It seems that our community is going in sync so, a lot of people are talking/writing content around similar topics... There were some talks about adapting and changing, and I have decided to share my video that I have recorded a couple of days ago... It's not the same topic, but I think that you will find it interesting...

To be honest, I was inspired by @russellstockley's post, where he mentioned his work of chosing books for a local library (it's posted more than 7 days ago, so if you want to reward him, please use tipping feature)... He shared his thoughts about trying to change public opinion in a small town with certain types of books... It's interesting how that "ordinary job" was important and powerful back in the days...

Actually, I think that there are some studies on that topic that have proven about certain "intelligence concentration" in some towns where these social experiments were taken... If you think about it, it's understandable... We are what we consume...

There were some interesting comments on that post, so please check them out... After reading them, I have done this vlog sharing my personal experience about "creating of public opinion"...

Check out the video...

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

Books were powerful tool... and they still are, but the Internet has taken that place... and it's incredible how the "standard" TV isn't losing the power as we thought that would...

Thanks for the comment!

There is definite Power in popular opinion, Advertisers have been using it for years and years :)
Synchronicity of thought in a community is quite commonplace because the context of the community often drive content.
Its like the Mexican wave at a Football match, one starts, then two, then 4, then 8, then the exponential growth just takes on a life of its own.
As a community starts to share information the rest of the community will start to be on the same path and when the context of the path ultimately has the same goal then all will start to expound the cause.

It is great that so many in a community can be on the same page, it is what conditions change.

Thanks for the post mention :)

Exactly... and we have "shifting" the direction of the community in different directions... It's like democracy on a higher level... silent sync that conditions change... :)

This is what I call an amazing well built up argumentation my friend!

Some years ago newspapers and news agencies where actually employing journalists to report on stuff. The problem with reduced income from ads is that journalists are expensive and so newspapers have to let most of the journalists go. They probably keep just some reporters for the local news. For the national and international news, about 99% of the articles are bought from news agencies and when your read several newspapers you will see the same articles everywhere.

The problem with that is that the concept of independent media is a big joke. The articles and reports come all from the same big agencies. The people who control these agencies, control the message that the big majority of the people hear and that leads us to become all formated in the same way....

I blame globalization for that... and for many other things... But, people asked for that... Everyone wants to have the same "thing" as his neighbor, regardless of where he lives on the planet...

The same things go for news, TV shows, etc... and we are here where we are at the moment... lol... :)

YES! This resonated for me so much (as I am sure you know ;) ). Critical thinking is SO important. Books can help with that in their own way, but also diving deeper into what we are being told, especially nowadays. We no longer can have the luxury of ignoring what is being pumped at us. MSM continues to pump lies & fear in a "seductive" way to get many to fall in line & not ask questions. This is very dangerous.

It is time we step out of that fear & ask the questions, do the research & take back our power that a lot of us so willingly give to the media & other influencing agencies.

The example of the liberarian was interesting because it shows that we can have the power to "influence" in either a positive way or negative way. Each of us can plant seeds for others to see or hear, but it's up to us what kind of impact we want to have ultimately. I know that I want to be different ;)

Thanks for an awesome video, Zoltan. You truly inspire me. 💖

I have nothing to add... You said it too good :) Mentioned some of the crucial words that we should stick to:

Critical thinking, diving deeper, ask the questions, do the research

The ball is in our yard, what will we do with it?

Great video Zoltan, and yeah news agencies and online platforms are all manipulating what we see all the time, so critical thinking is very important, and also decentralized platforms, keep up your great work.

Oh, yes... manipulations is big time at the present moment... As a matter of fact, I think that we are at its peak...

And I didn't go to decentralized platform importance in this video, but you are 100% right... They are one of the most important things TODAY and in the future...

Thanks for an awesome comment!

I have both a B.A. in History and a Masters in Library and Information Science. The most important skill I have learned from all those years in school is critical thinking and not just taking things at face value. There is always, always, always more than one point of view. I also worked in a library in a very small town. I spent my hours behind the Circulation Desk listening to people whine about having to pay overdue fines for the materials they just forgot to bring back. I didn't stay in the Library field because there was way too much politics involved. That gets old real fast.

There is always, always, always more than one point of view.

This is SO IMPORTANT to acknowledge that it should be in the schoolbooks! We have never learned about that... that there are different "versions" of history... We were learned to be equal and not different... that there is only ONE truth in the history books, which isn't always the case...

Thanks for the comment, Lisa... Appreciate it!

Critical thinking is super important

Yes, it is... But to have it, people need to start to THINK, and the next step is the "critical" part... but, it's happening...

Thanks for your time... Appreciate it!

I sometime read 2-3 pages of google search results.

Still I feel more comfortable in reading a "paper' book instead of online pdfs . Paper book give a feeling of reading a book that I never get by reading pdfs.

I have to admit that I didn't read any PDF book... I just can't do that... don't know why... But, on the other side, I have read hundreds of paper books, and still reading sometimes...

Paper is paper :)

This falls in line with the racial turmoil currently playing out in the United States. Like the saying goes, "history is written by the victors". The dominant people in power are the one's whose message is generally accepted. Now that public opinion is being re-evaluated, people are looking to change that history.

Take the pandemic, for instance. Are we getting the truth, or the message the government wants us to have?

Another issue is the cash shortage. We have never run out of cash before. Why are we now? Do you think this might be a ploy by the people driving for a cashless society?

It is as you said...we need to be bold enough to question the ones in power and think for ourselves. Thanks for posting this thought provoking message.

Exactly! Nathan Mars have mentioned here in the comments "critical thinking"... That's exactly what we need in EVERY situation, not just in this one...

If you have a bunch of "intelligent" government agencies, I doubt that they are doing nothing... and blindly believe in any organization is just stupid... We have to make questions, and they have to answer on them...

People have a wrong view of "authorities"... In a democracy, WE have put them there, and they are not ABOVE us... they are UNDER us... As soon people get aware of that, we can have some kind of CHANGE and be a better society... less controlled by sociopaths...

Thanks for your great comment. Truly appreciate it!

This was a great story and it makes me think of George Orwell's book 1984. In this book the government does away with real history and creates a fiction to make everyone conform. It was kind of like the news and media of today how they make up false truths about what is really going on in the World. It amazes me how so many people can be controlled so easily without questioning what is being said.

Well... I can't deny your words... to be honest... Every similarity with the real people and events is done on purpose... 🤣

I can't blame someone for being easily controlled, as all of us have a "role in this society"... Maybe you and I are failed in our roles... maybe we have to try harder...

Centralized media have a lot of power to change the general view of something. You might disagree with that. It is because they do it in a such a way we don't realize that.

To get to the first page of Google, you cannot just write about anything and it magically appears on the first page of Google. You need to write about something that people are looking for and interested to know about that. Thank you @ph1102 for sharing your thoughts.

You need to write about something that people are looking for and interested to know about that.

I have to disagree with this... This was maybe a case sometimes in the past... Or SHOULD be a case in the ideal scenario... I mean, you are right, IT SHOULD be like that...

But, I would say that you need to write about what people HAVE TO SEE and it is the part of the "bigger agenda"... It HAS TO go with that "public opinion"...

Cheers!

Come to think of it, I forgot to leave a comment here. LOL! Too sleepy last night that it slipped my mind. Anyway, I thank you for your suggestion that I stop watching the news and do a social media detox in terms of current events. My perspective has changed so much for the better once I did that. :)
