What makes blogs/vlogs something we are so interested in?

avatar

I’ve always hoped to use Hive to get people interested in my fiction and my music but I’ve consistently done better sharing my blogs and vlogs. I go on YouTube and find some random people talking about their day and their thoughts and these videos also have a lot of views and comments. It’s just a random somebody most of the time, nobody with particularly interesting lives.

What makes us so interested?

As much as I am interest in fiction and artwork from others, I also find myself more drawn to casual musings and updates about what people are busy with.

What is it?

I know 1000 people with lives probably just as interesting, some of them more so, and I could easily message them and ask what they are up to, and yet, I still feel pulled to hear what random people are up to and what they are thinking about. Sometimes the more random they are, the better.

Sometimes the unfamiliarity is what makes me curious. “Where are they going with this?”

Sometimes the consistency is what draws me in. I know where they stand with regards to things, let me see if I can guess where they are going with this...

Or does someone standing in their particular position see something I don’t see.

Sometimes it’s just a genuine like for that person and what they bring into the world.

But then why aren’t all the blogs/vlogs I follow the most the people that I like the most.

Perhaps it’s the fact that these people interact with the world in an entirely outward fashion. When they make a video or a blog, or podcast, of course I can comment, but they’ve already said something they can’t take back.

Perhaps the unfolding of a persons outward energy is what we find so compelling. It’s a bit masculine, or yang, in nature. They pierce our subconsciousness with their thoughts and their presentation. We become feminine or Yin when we accept it. As proactive interaction with others forces us to be a bit Yang, we relish in being the Yin to receive another’s Yang.

As content creators, we may also find excitement in sharpening or presenting our Yang on its own, without the back and forth of conversation. I think that’s what attracts me to sharing myself with the world.

We like the energy that others offer the world, and that energy sometimes is much more effective in the pure experience of “being” rather than the “doing” of making some kind of art work or other.

I’m not saying that artwork will become irrelevant, but it is a much more intimate experience that will be attractive only to those who trust the energy we are offering, or who see our art looking sexy on a shelf somewhere and want to enjoy a one night stand or a friends with benefits where they know little about where we are coming from and what we are getting at, but like the feeling they get.

Everything is sexual. But sexual doesn’t necessarily mean SEX or physical desire. It’s the giving and receiving of the yin and Yang.

My favorite relationships are the ones where we give and receive equal amounts, but I also love all the people share something wonderful for me to just receive, and those who receive what I have to give passively. I hope there are those who are inspired by me and the inspiration allows them to create or do something themselves that can inspire others. In the same way, I love that there are those who create and share shamelessly so that I can receive and find the inspirations to pass along to others.

You feel me?

I suppose on some level we enjoy looking in on another's life without actually knowing them or vice versa. There is a lack of responsibility with that and perhaps added curiosity as we somewhat try and "figure them out".

Great post. Some real food for thought from a variety of angles.

Great post sir as always-

But then why aren’t all the blogs/vlogs I follow the most the people that I like the most.

Not everyone's likes or dislikes are same sir. If that would be then he world have been end or maybe it have become a place of peace. 🙏

What I meant is: I follow some people who are not my favorite people very carefully. I’m just interested in them.

I think most of our attachment to blogs as a consumer comes from subscribing to a personality rather than a topic alone. The content gives us rational direction to subscribe while the creator's branding gives us a reason to stay. That's why it's difficult to get the X factor going as not everyone has a branding that could appeal to the masses but could still thrive in their own entertainment niche.

I lean more on personality being the selling point as a lot of people can talk about the same thing but some are just better at keeping an audience attention glued.

I think you are right and it gives me insight into my own audience. I suppose I belong to a few niches that aren’t easy to blend without being generic and so I struggle to catch the entire niche. I like it though so I see it as a challenge to find a way to be more interesting to very different kinds of people. 😃

Wow, well said. It made me look at the concept of giving and receiving in another light. Thank you for sharing your wisdom 😊

I’ve been called a lot to this idea of duality, even though it’s just an illusion, it’s still part of the beautiful artwork that is our experience as humans

I used to work part-time at a children's museum and one of those tours was highlighting China. That's where I learned about the duality yes and it seemed so interesting. When I read your post, I thought about what I had learned then.

It’s kind of amazing how instinctive it is for people...a lot of ideas were pushed out of the cultures consciousness but they still remain in how they speak to each other. They’ve lost a lot of their potency but the ideas are still alive and well and survive in the more thoughtful people 😃

That's so true and some cultural aspects have also transcended ethnicities. Like Asian cultures and wisdoms have reached the Western world and vice versa. We can learn a lot from each other in this world 😊

This is something I spend so much time thinking about. I feel there is an awesome sweet spot in balancing cultures with different energies.

True indeed and if something from one culture isn't for you, then also good. You only need to respect that people differ.

I have no idea with anyone else XD

For me I have to be interested in the person behind the blog first, and then it's kind of a way to have a conversation without conversing (because I'm pretty lousy at real time conversations). I don't do vlogs unless I'm reasonably interested in a person as they require too much concentration XD

I don't even like video tutorials x_x

And as per usual for me I think I get what you're saying and also have no idea whatsoever XD
