Hello greeting to you hives, hope we all doing well. I want to take this opportunity to thank and show appreciation to @smile and @HiveCrossCulture community for this wonderful opportunity to share our school life. @starstring and @whatamidoing thank you for making this contest known to me. Though this is a late entry I would like to show my school world to the community and the hive blockchain. To partake in the contest click here. I invite @kenechukwu97
To begin with, the school is a big institution which involves a lot of different people from different backgrounds. But every school has its rules which the people in it go by. I would say it's a form of culture. Growing up as a child, mom told me I wanted to be a pastor whenever I'm asked what I would like to be in the future because I was named after a pastor. But I had no idea of what I was saying about my future.

My creche and nursery life at Reverend Philip Anderson School

I started my creche and nursery in Reverend Philip Anderson school in Takoradi. It was one of the old and well-renowed school in my area. I remember my mom always buys me a candy before I would accept on going to school. It was so difficult to be sent to school by my mom. I was even sometimes dagged to school with force haha. Anytime I was dropped in school I would cry all my tears out. There was a particular teacher I disliked that was the reason. I remember there was this particular day where my mom dropped me in school and after getting home, she found me hiding at the back seat in the car. I was kinda stubborn at home.
On graduation day, I was awarded the most innocent and decent student. There was this particular lady who knew me in the house so she got up and shouted in shock because she knew I didn't deserve it haha.

My basic school life - Bethel Methodist School: Primary and junior high school(JHS)

After being promoted to the primary, I started to turn more decent and calm. It was difficult to hear from me in the class. Our primary and jhs had a church where we went to do our morning devotion before we start the class session. My school was a methodist school so they made sure we the students get to know how to sing the methodist hymns. We had scheduled days in the week we used to go sing hymns in the church. They were Wednesdays and Fridays. I really loved those days because the class is not effective during that time and learning hymns were fun too. The day it doesn't come off I really feel annoyed and feel down too.
On reaching the jhs level, I became a sports boy. I was athletic, a footballer, and a basketball player. Well, my school had no basketball court but I had some basics at hand. We had some games we organized that we called it school league. It comprised of all methodist schools in the district. My school was the king because we won most of the cups at the end of the tournament.
We also had an occasional day in the methodist calendar as a methodist school called John Wesley day. It was used to celebrate the life of John Wesley and the brother Charles Wesley. That particular day is a holiday for us the methodist schools because school session gets canceled and we visit the church to sing and listen to the past life of the Wesley brothers.
A bit grown, I had to think of what I would be in the future. I was good at art so I decided to be an artist. I remember I was really good at drawing comics. They one day made a contest to bring out the best artists in the school. I was the winner, I drew superman and also superman was my favorite in the justice league. But you know in Ghana here, most parents want their children to offer science because most science students are tagged the intelligent students. So I had to switch minds and choose science.
I chose Ghana Secondary Technical School(GSTS) as my first school choice. Here in Ghana, we choose four secondary schools which you would like to attend when your grade fits for one of them. The order was from the best to the below-average school as A, B, C, and D respectively. I had my first choice which was GStS because i had a good grade.

My life in the Senior school: Ghana Secondary Technical School

Entering senior high school, I became a boarder. We had two systems in the senior high school, named day student and boarding student. The day student is a student who attends school from the house(domestic) and a boarding student is the one who sleeps in the school's hostel mostly know as a dormitory by us. We had a custom in the dormitory, you hand over your provision to a senior to keep it, and whenever you need something to eat he would choose what he wants to give you out of his own will. I also joined the basketball team in the first year. In my school first-years are not allowed to be in the first team selection but I had the privilege to be part of the first team. We also used to organize a school sporting tournament, which was named inter-schools.

image.png

It was held on my school's premises because my school was one of the best schools in Ghana which had a good reputation when it came in sports aspects.
We had an assembly hall where we went to do our morning devotion before the class session starts.
When you're caught in the dormitary while the assembly is going on you would be given severe punishment. you would either dig a four feet hole on your own or fill a six feet hole with refuse.
We also had a dining hall for the boarding students. Most of the students didn't like the dining hall food but as for me I never rejected any food from the dining hall haha. I never missed dining food. I liked the food a lot. I even wanted to be the dining hall prefect. When I got to the final year, I used to bully the juniors. In my final year, The basketball team went to sprite. I was the assistant captain by then. The sprite tournament was held in Accra, Ghana.
As my journey was getting to an end in secondary school, I had to make a decision on what I would be in the future. By then I was a little mature. I decided to hop into renewable energy because I was living in a community where Volta River Authority(VRA) personnels stayed. I consulted them for some advice in the energy sector and this advice was so motivating so I stood to my decision. After writing exams for university entry, I chose renewable energy engineering as my first choice, followed by mechanical engineering and finally electrical. Luckily for me, I gained admission as a renewable energy engineering student.

My Journey in the university, University of Energy and Natural Resources

In the university, I was grown metally so I had to adapt to some new ways I would associate with people and the environment. I engaged myself in group studies. I made some inquiries about how I could be successful in the university and I was told to take part in group studies. With my lecture routine, before I prepare for lectures, I workout a little bit in my room, take my shower and go for lectures. sometimes I don't even bath because I would oversleep. After lectures I have some beans and gari joint I visit to eat. Gari has processed cassava into grains. I like the food a lot because it really satisfies me. Sometimes too I go eat fufu with some soup. Fufu too is a food prepared with pounded cassava and plantain mixed.
We also had this week entertainment organized by our SRC executives. It's a week we use to invite artists and organize Jams too. It's really a fun week.

Sometimes after class, I go to the basketball court at the hostel to go play basketball. Well, I'm a continuing student so I'm still on my final year project at the moment. I'm currently working on a project proposal on automated dust removal from solar panels.

Thank you very much

Invito a @kenechukwu97

Mi vida escolar básica - Escuela Metodista Bethel: Primaria y secundaria (JHS)

602994_516776738391431_1821638859_n.jpg

Muchas gracias
