Soheil Arabi, an atheist activist arrested in Iran on blasphemy charges, will remain in prison despite 85,000 prisoners being released from prison on temporary leave. Arabi stated, "And I have been imprisoned for telling the truth. Those who had embezzled money were granted prison leave and are now at large. Armed robbers are now at large. What is the danger of a
journalist?"

Disgraceful!
Not surprising, though.
Totalitarian regimes can handle corrupt people, they actually need them. Journalism is way more dangerous for them than crime itself. They can profit from crime and criminals, not from honesty and truth.
Here in Venezuela, we have thousands of political prisoners, many of which are not even politicians (they range from students who were arrested during protests to doctors who spoke about poor conditions of our hospitals, to average people who posted something on social media deemed offensive by the maduro regime). They have not have a trial and yet they are rotting in hell. In the meantime, minister of prisons, iris varela, releases all kinds of criminals. These criminals are hired by the same government and used to repress and intimidate anyone who dares to protest.
That's the style of socialism we have.

So clearly, was Soheil Arabi detained because he was an atheist because he was an activist? However reason, this is disgraceful. Iran is clearly not a full islami state, it's not a crime that one isn't a Muslim. After clearly listening I think he might be in for a long spell, it's clear infringement of human right by the way, he should be released if the case can go viral I'm sure he'll get justice.

I'm not sure to understand (I'm French): they release armed people, but they don't want to release an atheist prisoner (a journalist?). It's ridiculous.

Atheism is tantamount to aggressive anti-government rhetoric in countries like Iran. Its not surprising, given that totalitarianism is so en vogue at the moment, that they'd make an example out of this gentleman.

In some Islamic countries, atheists are used as an example of edification.
