Book Stamp & Ekslibris - Kitap Mührü [ENG-TR]

I will not comment on the book today. We will talk about ex-libris and book stamp. Many book lovers like me write their names at the top of the page to make it clear that their books belong to them. Nowadays, you know that this is done in very different ways with "book stamps". You can custom design these stamps. Or you can decorate it yourself with pencils. The purpose of doing this means "This book belongs to me". The first thing I do when buying a new book is always write my name on the first page. I am very happy when I do this. That book makes me feel like it's completely mine. That's why I wanted to get a book seal for a long time. Since I could not decide how to buy something, I could not buy it. Knowing this, my neighbor bought it as a birthday present for me. The image I encountered when I opened the package made me very happy.

I will no longer have to write my name on books with my own hand.

We talked about the "book seal" and now it's time for "exlibris". So what is this exlibris?

Ex-libris are small-sized prints on which names and pictures are affixed to the inner cover of the book. It introduces the owner of the book, not the author of the book. The word comes from Latin. Its writing is in the form of exlibris. For example "From Tuğba's library". Ex-libris first appeared in Germany. It is called Bibliothekzeichen in Germany. So it means (book label). Its English meaning is "bookplate". There were different reasons people used to use this tag.

Ekslibris, kitabın iç tarafta bulunan kapağa isim ve resimlerin yapıştırıldığı küçük boyutlu baskılardır. Kitabın yazarını değil, kitabın sahibini tanıtır. Sözcük Latince'den geliyor. Yazımı ekslibris şeklindedir. Mesela "Tuğba'nın kütüphanesinden" gibi. Sanırım Ekslibris ilk Almanya'da ortaya çıktı. Almanya da Bibliothekzeichen olarak adlandırılıyor. Yani (kitap etiketi) anlamını taşıyor. İngilizce anlamı ise kitap plakasıdır. Eskiden insanların bu etiketi kullanmasının farklı sebepleri vardi.

At the time, manuscripts were only used by the Church Princes and the nobility. After the invention of Maatba, it started to fall into the hands of noble and educated people. For this reason, private property brand has emerged. They thought that a special property mark was needed to protect books from theft. These signs were usually drawings or inscriptions indicating the owner of the book at that time. Sometimes interesting words and short reminders were written in these chapters to ensure the return of the borrowed book on the first page.

Example:
"The honest man must bring back what he borrowed."

Or

"Do not lose the book. Do not give it to anyone else without permission / After reading it, please return the book to its original owner."

There are various ex-libris associations in our country as well as all over the world.

Zamanında el yazmaları Kilise Prenslerinde ve soylularda bulunurmuş. Maatbanin icadından sonra soylu ve eğitimli insanların eline geçmeye başlamış. Bu yüzden özel mülkiyet markası ortaya çıkmış. Kitapların hırsızlıktan korunması için özel bir sahiplik işaretinin gerektiğini düşünmüşler. Bu işaretler genelde o dönemde kitabın sahibini belirten çizimlerdi. Bazen ilk sayfaya ödünç alınan kitabın iadesini sağlamak için bu bölümlerde ilginç sözler ve kısa hatırlatıcılar yazılırmış.

Researcher and writer Gündağ Kayaoğlu, who is also an expert in folk culture, had Tan Oral caricature and ex-libris done in Arabic with the phrase "Yâ Kebikeç" in 1985. Şimdi gelelim benim kitap mührüme. Ahşap tasarım vintage havası vermiş. İçerisinde bir adet mühür mürekkebi bulunuyor. Arkadaşımın seçmiş olduğu tasarımı çok beğendim. Birazdan tek tek tüm kitaplarımı mühürleyeceğim. Şimdi sıra Mühür Mumu edinmekte. Mum ile yapılan mühürlerde çok ilgimi çekiyor. Eski zamanlarda mektuplarda çok sık kullanılırmış. Bu tarz hediyeler beni çok mutlu ediyor. Çevrenizde kitap kurdu varsa mutlaka ona bu tarz bir hediye alın. Onu çok mutlu edecektir.
