Wheeew, what a year 2020 has been. A year that it story could not yet be told because it is still happening. 2020 has been a tumultuous year for everyone but we survived unscathed, maybe with minor setbacks. I guess we all deserve a pat on the back with the words "well-done, you've done great". There is a netflix movie titled 'Death to 2020'. I think it is comic. You should check it out.
I didn't read much last year, but the books I read were quite good to be honest. I really love books, they are like television inside your head. Before, I was the type that feels this weird moral obligation to finish every book I started, until I found the light and realized, fucking hell, I don't gotta torture myself no more, if I hate a book, put it away, if I'm not enjoying a book, put it away, if I have read or know what the part of the book is about, skip to a new part, or, throw it the fuck away etc. So that has led to a large sum of unfinished books in my library. I didn't read much last year, hopefully this year would be different. So, in no particular order, here are my five favorite books of 2020.
This is a trilogy. They are actually separate books but I felt I should put them all together for numerous reason. If you are a creative trying to find your path and all, you should DEFINITELY read this books. In fact, if you are a human being, you should read them. The writer, Austin Kleon is a writer who draws. He has a way of playfully putting out his messages that not only does it resonates with the reader, it also teaches the reader immensely, so if you haven't read any of this books I highly recommend them from left to right in that order.
I can't make this up - life lessons by Kevin Hart
I wrote a review of the book here. Its a great read. Struggles of an average human towards their goals and dreams. He is a comedian so you should definitely expect some jokes, but what really left me in awe was this man's hardwork, wow. I think its an autobiography. You can check out my review to see if it might be something to add to your readlist for the year.
The Art Of Witty Banter by Patrick King
Patrick King is a great writer. If you are like me, a sucker for good conversations, then this is a great book for you. The author must be a genius in having conversations with all the knowledge inside this books. All practical and proven guides and methods of conversing, Patrick king makes it possible that any and everyone can read this book and always know what to say and when, and mostly avoid those awkward silence, geeez, I hate those moment.
Six Graves to Munich by Mario Puzo
I think this is the only fiction book in my list. A thriller, filled with suspense and excitement. This novel by Mario Puzo is one to check out. Its intriguing and beyond satisfactory. Mario Puzo which is also the author of the best seller "The Godfather" pens down a story of an American Michael Rogan who sets out for revenge against seven gestapo officers who tortured him during the second world war. Everything is Fucked by Mark Manson
The last but surely not the list. You see, my read list is incomplete without at least one book from Mark. He is kinda like my favorite author at the moment. He has influenced me a lot, positively. The author of the bestseller "The subtle art of not giving a fuck" comes out with another masterpiece. A brilliant piece, a book about hope in a really bizarre way. Mark, as always being the one to say things as it is, a sort of "in-your-face" style of writing wish excites me. Lots of philosophical questions, Deep and inherent life lessons, wit and jokes, a book packed with everything. I'm Not gonna lie a lot of the things he wrote went over my head, but I did read the whole thing though, those days, lol.
There you have it, Stevenson's 2020 top books. A peek into a weirdos mind. I know I do a lot of non-fiction though but I really kinda read it all. Well, these look like some genuinely good options to read. I remember I read a lot of books in the second half of 2020. But I mostly read fiction because that's what I like to write. Also a metric ton of poetry because I'm a sucker for poetic speech. A good thing of finding this post is getting onto that community too. So, thanks for the witty, fine and short reviews of the books.
