Es una historia ficticia, pero los hechos que les contaré a continuación muestran cómo, en ocasiones, familias muy unidas se destruyen por causa del dinero..

Carlos y su hermana Ana son detectives privados que dedican su vida a resolver casos difíciles. Un día recibieron una llamada de un cliente anónimo que les pidió encontrar unos collares con diamantes supuestamente desaparecidos. El cliente les ofreció una gran suma de dinero a cambio de sus servicios. Los hermanos aceptaron sin saber que el cliente era en realidad su propio padre, quien había escondido los collares para evitar compartirlos con ellos.

La casa de Maple Street es una acogedora mansión suburbana con un hermoso jardín y una cerca de madera alineada perfectamente para mostrar todo su esplendor. Fue adquirida recientemente y es la dirección que se les entregó a Carlos y Ana para proceder con la búsqueda. Ana llegó primero, por lo que Carlos esperó unos minutos y luego la siguió al interior. Ambos sabían que debían actuar rápido, ya que fueron advertidos de que, si alguien los encontraba en el interior, tendrían órdenes de eliminarlos.

Al entrar Carlos a la sala, vio a la chica husmeando en la gaveta de un estante de color caoba. Ella estaba de espaldas, ambos llevaban pasamontañas, por lo que ignoraban sus identidades. Carlos sacó su arma y la apuntó, diciéndole: "No te muevas. Dime dónde están y tal vez te perdone la vida". Ella levantó los brazos y se volteó lentamente, pero de forma brusca logró alcanzar el arma y le disparó a Carlos, hiriéndolo gravemente. Por instinto, Carlos también le disparó dos veces, cayendo ambos al suelo en sus propios charcos de sangre. Desde allí, la habitación mostraba una escena dantesca.

Se quitaron las máscaras y fue entonces cuando se percataron de que habían sido engañados. Habían sido contratados sin saberlo por alguien inescrupuloso y malvado, concluyendo que fueron sus propios padres ambiciosos quienes los contrataron para encontrar los collares con diamantes de alto valor. El vínculo físico entre hermanos quedó marcado aquella noche.

Ambos padres llegaron celebrando su astucia al evitar tener que compartir el botín. Creyeron que ambos hermanos habían muerto sin enlodarse en lo ocurrido. Pero cuando entraron a la sala donde se encontraban los hermanos, descubrieron que los cuerpos habían desaparecido. De no haberlo hecho, sus padres habrían logrado cumplir su objetivo principal: eliminarlos a como diera lugar.

Meses después, Carlos y Ana se encontraban alojados en una zona montañosa cuando escucharon por la radio la noticia de la muerte de sus padres, quienes se enfrentaron a las autoridades policiales. Carlos, manipulando su silla de ruedas, se dirigió hacia su hermana, quien estaba inmovilizada debido a las lesiones sufridas en aquel enfrentamiento. Él le acarició la frente y ambos lloraron mientras Carlos pensaba: "La fortuna no se compara con la vida de un ser humano. Todo por una ambición.”

It's a fictional story, but the events I'm about to share illustrate how, at times, close-knit families can be destroyed by money.

Carlos and his sister Ana are private detectives dedicated to solving difficult cases. One day, they received a call from an anonymous client asking them to find supposedly missing diamond necklaces. The client offered them a large sum of money in exchange for their services. Unbeknownst to them, the client was their own father, who had hidden the necklaces to avoid sharing them with his children.

Maple Street House is a cozy suburban mansion with a beautiful garden and perfectly aligned wooden fence showcasing its splendor. Recently acquired, it was the address given to Carlos and Ana for their search. Ana arrived first, so Carlos waited a few minutes before following her inside. They both knew they had to act quickly as they had been warned that anyone finding them inside would be ordered to eliminate them.

As Carlos entered the room, he saw a girl rummaging through a mahogany-colored drawer. She had her back turned, and both of them were wearing masks, unaware of each other's identities. Carlos drew his weapon and pointed it at her, saying, "Don't move. Tell me where they are, and maybe I'll spare your life." She raised her arms and slowly turned, but abruptly managed to reach the gun and shot Carlos, severely injuring him. Out of instinct, Carlos also fired twice, and both fell to the ground in their own pools of blood. The room became a macabre scene.

They removed their masks and realized they had been deceived. They had been unknowingly hired by someone unscrupulous and evil, concluding that it was their own ambitious parents who had hired them to find the highly valuable diamond necklaces. The physical bond between siblings was marked that night.

Both parents arrived, celebrating their cunning in avoiding having to share the loot. They believed both siblings had died without getting involved in what had transpired. But when they entered the room where the siblings were, they discovered the bodies had vanished. If not for that, their parents would have achieved their main objective: eliminating them at all costs.

Months later, Carlos and Ana were staying in a mountainous area when they heard on the radio the news of their parents' death, as they had confronted the authorities. Carlos, maneuvering his wheelchair, made his way to his sister, who was immobilized due to the injuries sustained in that confrontation. He gently caressed her forehead, and they both cried as Carlos thought, "Fortune cannot be compared to a human life. All for the sake of ambition."
