The Integration of Light & Shadow in a Design Structure

I've been Shadow Hunting for a year now. This week I came across a gem in the ordinary structures at a corner of the shopping center where my local food store is located!

Can Light and Shadow govern a building design? Beautiful interior spaces boast not just of excellent use of colors, themes and materials but also on how they collectively integrate to form a useful aesthetic space. An important aspect of this integration is the light, be it natural or artificial which pours in any space. An effect of light is shadow, and if done correctly, natural or artificial lighting can create blissful shadows which can animate any space. However, if not worked out properly, light can create bad uncomfortable shadows which would make spaces look dull and gloomy.

A beautiful play of light and shadow in a space.

Seeing the same space with different diffused lighting, at different times of the day can add interest to a space. Light changes according to the season as well, so designing with respect to casting shadows can ensure added charm at different times of the year.

I love Shadow Hunting, my dear @melinda010100. I am glad to be able to write an article about the shadows as well. I just wish that I knew how to get more exposure for my Shadow Hunting articles so that I can help promote the contest better. But I am trying!
Thank you again for the opportunity to write an article under the #shadowphoto tag, it is always fun!
Have a beautiful week, and take care, my dear friend 🥰🌺🤙!

I am trying and hopeful that I can get some curation for the contest entry posts! That would certainly help the community grow.
I appreciate all the promotion you do for Shadow Hunters!

The community has grown so big!!! I recall last year when we spoke about it, and at that time you were thinking of abandoning the project because you thought that it is not taking traction. Look at it now!!! CONGRATULATIONS!

@annephilbrick's suggestion of Show Me A Shadow made all the difference. Prior to that we had a weekly theme and even though we tried to keep the topics broad, I think it was just too difficult for many people to find a specific shadow.

Very nicely done @silversaver888! There is so much beauty in our world, and often it is from the simplest of things. The whole area you show makes me just want to sit and observe, or maybe read and enjoy a coffee. Thanks for making us more aware. Take care sweet sis!😘🤗💕🌸

This corner is not appreciated much at all. I pass this corner every day for three years on my way to work. I cannot recall seeing anyone ever hang around the benches in that corner. I was one of those "anyone", until I went shadow hunting the other day. I said the same thing to myself... wow, I can sit here and be blissful just enjoying the patterns that the light and shadows make on the floor and posts of the structure. The architect planned for the shadows that this structure will make when he designed this corner of the shopping center. How creative!
HAve a great day, my sweet sis, Take care 🥰🌺🤙, lots of hugs and love 🤗💕.

Light Can change how things are viewed both exterior and interior. Our house in Colorado sat on a hill in the High Desert, and from season to season you could see how the Sun changed the interior lighting. From the Mountain peaks, the Sun would move from left to right with the Seasons across what they called signal Peak.
Lighting can take an average home and make it very unique!!😀
Very nice....Have a good evening my friend!!😍😍😀

Colorado! I visited Denver once, and then also stayed in Breckenridge for a weekend stay in that quaint town!
So very true. lighting enhances the beauty of anything. It is fantastic how, in this case, the architect of this structure used the natural light and shadows as the main element in the design. Totally creative!
Have a wonderful day, my friend @silvertop, and take care🥰🌺🤙
