Greetings, Hiveans! I brought some cool reflections today. I am sure some of you may feel a bittersweet nostalgia feelings...

_MG_7297w1.JPG

These photos are from May, 2011 - in less than a month I can celebrate anniversary for this photosession. My babygirl - a happy goose owner and brave outer world explorer - was less than two years old by this date.

At some point it was baby's fave toy, but not for tooo much long period - maybe, one summer season, or even less. This is a very unique traditional toy which made according to the basics how our ancestors produced it. Wood-cutted, and paint-decorated. (Tho I cant say what they were using back in the Middle Ages, when there was no such thing as a resin). Maybe some experts can share with me their vision?..

Ok, long story short - the toys like this are nt produced nowadays on a popular scale in thousands or millions of copies. We've got ours thanks to the good family friends. They love to travel so much, they almost never stop! once they were crossing Europe and, I am not quite sure, my memory fails me after 10 years - they were visiting either Holland, or France - they noticed this rara avis at some agriculture outfit. 'A traditional village' - real living museum it was, or smth like that. This toy have caught their attention, the price was not biting - just 6 or 8 euros - and they were not restricted in weight (as they were travelliing with their own car). So, they didnt think long, and obtained it for us... for our growing babygirl, to be precise.

And here the story ends! We still keep it - not in the attic, we have no such a thing as attic at a residential building - but in our flat. We cant just throw it away or put to recycle. Probably we wait for a chance of some good caring hands will pass by, thats a chance that I definitely will use, to give it away for free. Yes, it do not look like 100% new now, some paint have peeled off -- we didnt keep it as a museum piece! we had fun with it, and it had a real life instead of sitting in a toilet and keeping dust!

This is my entry to the Reflection Hunters contest, round 12.

location: St.Petersburg, Russia May 2011 natural light
camera/lens: Canon 350D 50mm 1.8 ex-jpg

And here the story ends. I have much more photos with this toy - but no reflections. I will probably address them to a different community. SO, instead of that, please enjoy as a bonus - this one!

Isnt it sweet? SAme age of two. Its more than a simple static reflection... It Is Engagement! With The Reflection! I guess its something unique, that you dont see on a regular basis ;=)

Actually, the toy has been known since last year, but in my area, the goose toy is still sold in the market, especially on weekends, we spend a lot of money to buy some types of toys.

very cool to hear that! traditional societies that keep a longer distance to all the modern digital pleasures and divertisments, keep amazing stuff of our ancestors! will yoou take a few market photos for me, when you encounter it next time> ? thanks!
