Shadow Hunters Contest-Round 134

041.JPG

I have three photos here to serve as an entry into the Shadow Hunters contest and hope that you will enjoy them.

Photo1. This is a Pine Cone on our dining room table in the afternoon sunlight!

033.JPG

Photo 2. Cuttlebones from small to big also on out dining room table.

095.JPG

Photo 3. A few shadows of Kelp Gulls at the beach!

Do you know what a Cuttlebone fish is?

It is of the family "Sepiidae" and you can read about here:

Source

What were cuttlebones used for?

"In the past, cuttlebones were ground up to make polishing powder, which was used by goldsmiths. The powder was also added to toothpaste, and was used as an antacid for medicinal purposes or as an absorbent. They were also used as an artistic carving medium during the 19th and 20th centuries".

Note: All photos are my own, unedited and cropped for uploading!
Camera used: Canon SX60HS

We trust that this entry will conform to the rules of this great challenge!

Hiya cousin Jerry, best is to call me whatever lol.
Yeah, I was surprised to see that the Cuttlebone had so many uses.
We are inquisitive souls by nature and now that we live here very near to the ocean, it offers us many new discoveries.
Nothing like a walk on the beach my friend!

Blessings!

Greetings to you Lady Nina,
Thank you for the kind comment and the Cuttlebones have certainly turned up some surprises.
We are so glad to have the gift of the ocean to explore and I am sure that we will turn up many more surprises.

Blessings and thank you for the good luck wishes!

We have had such bones as beak whetstone for our cage birds. They were sold as "fishbones".

I like all three photos, but the pine cone most 😊

Oh yeah, all of the pet shops here also sell them, as they have a high magnesium content.
It is not really a fish bone, they are Marine Molluscs and can you believe that they belong to the same class as the Octopus and the Nautilus.

Thank you for the kind compliment about the shadow photos my friend.

Cheers and thanks!

Yes, thanks I had a look up where they come from - didn't know that before.

It was a pleasure to see the photos 😊

Amazing the things that the ocean teaches us my friend.
I remember when we found the Nautilus shell how amazed we were to discover its purpose.

Thank you once again for liking the photos!

Cheers and thanks!

Thank you Hannes.
I think that we are going to do a bit more research on the Sepiidae family!

May your day also have been good my friend!

Oh? so you are working your shift again?
I think you said two or three time a month?
Or is it two or three times a week?

Glad that you had an easy day at least.

Cheers and thanks!

Three times a month and sometimes a forth time.
In the afternoon it has got a bit busy, but all in all it was a "nice" day and I could do a lot at the Hive 😊

Hope you had a good time without electricity and everything went alright.

Great and thanks, as now I remember.
Glad that had a good time and could get in a lot of Hive work. Did you do a post also?

Yes, thank you we have learned to to cope with the shutdowns my friend.
From 12-2:30 we go out, either to the beach or the mountains and from 8-10:30pm I do exercises and other stuff lol.

Cheers and thanks.

Yes, I made a short sunset post with some photos I took two weeks ago when I saw that Halo.

So the load shedding is somehow positive for your health: you go out into the fresh air and you do your exercises. And it's good for us too, because you always bring beautiful photos back home 😊

Done and dusted with your post Hannes,

Yeah, I do my exercises at home and then all of the walking outside during loadshedding also counts as exercise hahaha.

Did I tell you that I got the king of the sunbirds today?

Google the "Malachite Sunbird" and you will see what I mean lol.

I won't place a photo here, as you are a lazy Austrian mountain goat and then you won't Google the bird hahaha

Cheers and thanks!

I'm even more lazy as I don't google that bird on my phone because of the small screen 😉

I have read in your post that you have photographed such a bird and either I will have a look at it later on the big computer monitor or I'll just wait for your post.

If they'd pay for laziness I'd be rich 😁

You see Hannes?

I really think that you will benefit greatly from loadshedding and your government must get their act together to become inefficient lol.

But, as we are friends, I will spare you the the very hard task of Googling by posting a photo here. I mean that I really don't want you to be jerked out of your comfortable lethargic status by the extremely difficult task of clicking some keys on a keyboard.

So here you go and may your laziness be rewarded with amazing riches!

This is the famous Malachite!

Cheers and thanks!

But thank you so much for your kindness and help, my friend 😁

Oy, you are really running around in the comments tonight, shame man I know how difficult it is when one is in a rush. At times I make the mistake of skipping over a few replies and I only see them the next day.

Always ready to help my friends Hannes.
Kindness will restore normality to this world 😘

Cheers and thanks!

Oh yes, I do, but sometimes I need a few minutes for myself 😉
If I only knew before how much work would be waiting for me I wouldn't have gone for that motorbike ride 😉 lol

Yeah and believe it or not, I still have a last few exercises to do before a shower and then bed. But, as always work comes first.

You needed the ride and don't blame yourself 🙂

Cheers and thanks!

Good morning Zac,

I know and I was only joking - it's just as @brittandjosie said today to me life comes first 😁

Congratulations to your third place in the Engagement League my friend 😊
I'm off the list for now, so there's only one left for you to beat, but that's a hard one 😉

For the next few hours I'll be busy with replying and then I have to finalize my #AlphabetHunt post and look through the photos I took this morning at the reservoir ... it's going to be a busy Sunday for me.

Wish you a wonderful day Zac 😄

Good evening Hannes,

I have discussed this issue already in a reply way up on this list lol.
Only way that I can ever beat Galenkp is ask him to take a week off and I will never do that as it is not in my nature. I will rather support him and I think that you would do the same lol.

So now you are confusing me? Are you posting the sunrise and the macros, or the AlphabetHunt?
Sounds to me like you are doing 3 posts today hahaha.

Cheers and thanks.

Cheers and thanks.

I think we have too many conversations at the same time Zac - that's confusing me too 😏
I have only posted the #AlphabetHunt and have to look through the photos I took today first and then edit them before I make a post 😁

Yeah, I think that we are getting too old to have many conversations at the same time Hannes lol.
I had to fit the balance of last night's replies in here today somehow.
Of course I fitted them in the wrong order, as I did the recent conversations first and than had the dilemma of going down and completing the old ones.
Even this is confusing hahahah.

Okay. You have done the Alphabethunt post.

Cheers and thanks!

These are wonderful shadows! Just so you know, because you can only enter once, unless you tell us otherwise only the first photo counts as an entry into the contest. How fun to see an entry from you! Thanks for supporting the contest! ❤️

Thank you Lady Melinda, I seem to have forgotten about the first photo only.
I am not used to post only one photo in a post and even three photos make me feel that I am skimping on the post content.
But, such is life and thank you for the advice.

It was my pleasure to support the contest.

Blessings and thank you for the tip!

You can do a post with as many shadows as you want! I love seeing them! Only one qualifies for the contest, though. But continue doing your high quality posts. Maybe it will help convince OCD that Shadow Hunters should be curated!

I will continue and hopefully also inspire a few friends to also post in it.
