Shadow Hunters Contest Round - 155 - The ShipWreck.

A few months ago we were able to get away from our home town when the covid restrictions were eased of and we could cross boarders again , so we decided to drive towards Fraser Island you can't actually drive straight to the island you need to board a ferry to get you across to the island. Fraser Island is located about 300 kilometers North of Brisbane and 15 kilometers off the coast of Hervey Bay and Maryborough heading towards the East Coast of Queensland, Australia it's one of Australia's well known beaches for tourist and it's one magical pure white sand beach the beach stretches along the coast line for about 120 kilometers long and 22 kilometers wide that's a lot of beach sand to cover but apart from the peacefulness and tranquility on Fraser Island there is much to do and see and one of the highlights on this island which has quite a bit of history behind it , is the SS Maheno ship wreck which lays on the Fraser island shore and stands out like a sore thumb. The SS Maheno used to be an luxury ocean liner built for comfort for the rich crossing the Tasman Sea between New Zealand and Australia, from 1905 until 1935.

The SS Maheno luxury ocean liner in World War I , was turned into the main hospital ship transporting casualties back and forth between Sydney and Melbourne and also severed for the New Zealand Naval Forces during World War I , it then later went and served in the UK and Europe as a hospital ship it had certainly served it duties during this brutal war and after the war this luxury liner was sold to Osaka ship breaker in 1935 but never made it home due to a huge cyclone and later turned up on the coast of Fraser Island, where she remains rusted and forgotten what a sad way to go after all it's efforts.

The colors of the beach and the sea. The contrast between the rusty iron and the color of the sand is superb. A pleasure to see these photos!

If you run into a brownish bloke with a head like a robbers dog and a cheeky smile, that'll be me! I'll crack a coldie with you and your mate and we can tell some lies!

This wreck looks great, I have just imagined to encounter it during a nightly walk, surrounded by fog and illuminated by a full moon :)
