The second stage of the Museum of Fine Arts, Villanueva proposed an extension of the old building, with a contrasting modern style, it was inaugurated in 1973 by the President of the Republic at that time, Dr Rafael Caldera. The second building is of a modern, brutalist style, which contrasts with the previous one in forms, textures and materials: three vertical bodies in reinforced concrete and glass, articulated with each other and joined to the old building, in such a way that they form a unity .
Modern building: Construction of three internally articulated vertical bodies, a body with 8 exhibition rooms (on five floors), another with ramps, lobbies and elevators, and another for services, which connects with the neoclassical building.

Yesterday, Saturday, June 12, 2021, my wife and I were visiting the Museums, then we walked through the beautiful Los Caobos Park, an experience that made us remember our youth and dating time, because she and I frequented that place. By the way, we found that both places are being remodeled for that reason most of the rooms were closed, we could not see what we saw before but we really enjoyed it. It is good to mention that the Science Museum has two floors, with a semicircle base which constitutes the main facade of the building. The various rooms are organized around the central axis, seven on the ground floor and five on the upper floor. The building is located within a lush park, at the back of which stands a three-story annex building, which houses service and administration offices, education and museum workshops, and the documentation center.

The Museum was declared a National Historic Monument on September 1, 1993. By the way, in the guided tour we took, the young woman who led us through the Museum informed us that the reopening of most of the rooms is expected in the coming months. He did not specify when but it filled us with hopes of seeing its splendor again.

Interesting presentation, where in addition to showing us the beauty and usefulness of the place, it shows us, once again, that retrospective look at the architectural forms of the past (Neoclassicism) that was also followed in Europe until well into the 20th century. An affectionate greeting from Madrid.

Hello @sofathana receive a big hug full of positive energy and lots of light. I am glad to hear that you worked at the beautiful Science Museum and that this publication has brought you such fond memories. My respect to you. On Saturday I entered, after many years of absence, and the truth is not the same Science Museum that you and I knew with all its open exhibition rooms and countless students visiting that iconic place of knowledge with their teachers. It is unfortunate to see him so desolate. God willing it returns to its original splendor. I couldn't stand it and I asked the girl who accompanied us as a guide on the visit and she, very kindly, replied that they were in a restructuring stage and that other rooms would be open soon. I ask the Creator to do so. Thank you for your valuable comment.

Hello friend Arni @discoveringarni Yes, you are right. Historically, there have been many styles imposed on the urban development of the City and the Country in general. I see various stages of the architecture and civil engineering design of yesterday and today. Our architects have followed a pattern depending on the time and trends of that time; however, in many you can see the similarity of styles. Thanks for commenting on this post. Receive a strong virtual hug full of positive energy and lots of light.

Hello friend @ sahiba-rana Thank you for your comment. If it is true, here there is a lot of variety in terms of architecture; However, there is also currently a lot of improvisation in terms of urban planning, the populism established in the country has turned many places into real urban chaos, they have built horrible houses and buildings without any aesthetics or architectural knowledge but for business which has brought as a consequence vertical ranches in historical sites within the city. Receive a strong hug full of light and positive energy.

Hello friend Marcos. The Museum Square consisting of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Sciences, as per their aerial photograph on your post, indicates a splendid geographic location because those buildings are situated close to lush landscapes and green surroundings. It would definitely be a pleasure to fully experience their architectural spaces and details amidst that refreshing neighborhood. You look great @marcosmilano71, by the way, while having your snack during your rest in the park, hehe. 😃 Fabulous publication as always!

Certainly, the Museum Square is at the entrance of El Parque de Los Caobos, a capital park full of greenery, a place to visit with the family, really very cozy. It is good for your health to visit these places full of nature and art from time to time to be in Peace. I go out to relax in the midst of so many problems but the truth is I am more about being at home, my wife is the one who really loves to go out and since she is the one who commands hahahahaha I have no choice but to obey. Thank you my friend for your comment and for your support. I admire you my friend, I respect you and I appreciate you from a distance. God bless you always.
