ENGLISH

Today I want to talk a little bit about how music came into my life, having as main protagonist my grandfather who was the pioneer in this musical path.

My grandfather "Abel Magallanes" known as "Magellan" was born on November 25, 1921 in Quitó - Ecuador. He was a trumpet player, and thanks to his excellent skills on this instrument he had the opportunity to play with several important groups of the time.

His childhood was a strong time since his parents were of scarce resources, thanks to this from very small he and his brothers had to work to support and to solve the cats of the home.

Although my grandfather was Ecuadorian, he was able to travel through several countries, such as Panama and Guatemala, thanks to music, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Venezuela, country that received him with open arms and also gave him a place to live the last years of his life.

While in Panama playing for the circus "Dumbol" my grandfather met my grandmother "Melva" (she worked there), who fell in love and later had three children, two of whom have followed in his footsteps until today's sun.

Cande to emphasize that to be a musician in this epoch was something quite difficult, this profession was considered to be something informal for which always there were many misunderstandings, bad agreements, mistreatments and in addition inconveniences at the moment of paying to the musicians his respective money for the offered service.

Nowadays there are still people who denigrate this profession because of the past that involves several musicians or controversial groups. However, today this profession is no longer catalogued as a "hobby" but as a university career deployed worldwide.

Continuing with the main theme, my grandfather Abel managed to stand out as a solo trumpet player in different Night Clubs of the time, sharing the stage with large artists like: Daniel Santos, Olga Gillot, Arnulfo Trujillo(El negrito del sabor), Rafa Moreira, La Lupe and Nelson Pineda and then take the role of director musical in various dance groups such as: Los Chavales de Madrid, the Circo Dumbar Orchestra, Maximo Rodriguez Orchestra, H.R.N. Orchestra of
honduras, Juvenil Mini Combo, the brilliants of Caracas, Orlando and his Combo, and the DIRSOP Combo known today as the FAPET Combo.

After this, he managed to nationalize himself as a Venezuelan established in the city of San Cristóbal Táchira State, promoting his talent musical in the orchestras that at that time were of great relevance in our famous Fairs of "San Sebastian", being part of the "Bullfighting Band" as performer of clarines and timpani.

At the same time, around the 50's, he had the responsibility of performing the first trumpet, interpreting diverse themes of the popular dance repertoire of the time, known for maintaining a musical line of Caribbean style, giving impeccable presentations to the public eager for dance repertoire and also, being part of the beginning of a phase of style and boom, which he represented thanks to his rhythm and flavor of Latin America.

Today I am very happy that my grandfather has been the musical pioneer of my family, since at present it is what we are all passionate about and it is our daily work. His musical career will always remain in history to fill us with great inspiration.

I hope you have enjoyed this little story and have been able to learn a little more about the origin of this passion
