This is my review of Enya's Boadicea | it is a special song which she is performing it as a Capella

Today I liked to write about another song from Enya, it is called Boadicea and it means Victorious, This song does not has a lyrics and Enya is using her vocals as an instrument to perform the main melodies. This song is released in March 1987 by BBC Records in UK and it also released by Atlantic Records in USA. Enya recorded this song with her longtime recording partners, producer & arranger Nicky Ryan and his wife Roma Ryan (lyricist). The Genre of this song is New-Age/Celtic.

The Song starts with a Synthesizer with a little distortion and long sustain in its ending note, the synths keep playing and the music key is in G Major and a slow tempo (66 BPM) . When Enya starts to sing her a cappella part The synths also starts to change the chords, I love the way she is singing these melodies (full of emotions and Love) even if we consider it as the verse part of this music it sounds like the climax of the song. in 0:36 there is a Bass sound added (some songs does not need too many instruments and complexity and this song is also one of them) simplicity but much emotions exist in this music. The a cappella keeps performing and in 1:06 it goes to a higher point and Enya's vocals becomes like a string sound when she sings the harmonies perfectly. I love the way she changes the notes and makes the feelings of the song darker with tritones which I also enjoyed listening to these changes. after that part it gets back to the verse part but there is also another layer of vocal which all of them are performed by Enya. in 2:16 there is another layer added and made the verse part more powerful and creates a rich sound. and after that part the song slowly goes to the end while she keeps singing the last notes of the verse part and the volume becomes less and less while the synths is performing.

This is also a live record of Enya's "Boadicea" which was done with nothing but a Roland Juno-60 and her main vocals and layered vocals:

I leanred about ENYA back in the days when she released Watermark album, had to purchase this one immediately. After this I discovered the rest of her work, as well as Clannad. Didnt listen their albums too often last decade or so, but still goosebumps when listening again.

Ah ok, she made music for that movie! Nice :)
Not sure why I say 'nice', since I never saw the movie of the Lord :)
...wait...
Ah ok, now I know why I said 'nice', because Enya's music is super and 'nice' she made it to movie soundtracks :)

Hi @davidfar!
It is surprising how this music genre using few resources can have a result that moves the emotions and evokes feelings that allow our mind to be transported to quite distant places. In Hivesicians we are a fan of getting new music, we really liked the music you share here and the way you expose every element of it.

Our favorite part: when the harmony of the voices begins (1:05) it takes the piece to another level.
