Homemade Bacon Turkey Dorito Hoagie. Delicious!
Heyyyy! It's been a few since I posted my last dinner creation and tonight just felt right.
I'm not sure how many of you have ever tried chips on your sandwich, but I can promise that at least one of you will love it and thank me later if you've not tried it before. There are preferences to the chip type and you can swap out others but this is the way I wanted it and LOVED it tonight.
Let's dive right in.
- First, I pulled out my electric stove top. Sometimes I like to mix it up and use this rather than the frying pan. I'm using medium thickness double smoked signature select that is heavily peppered (both before packaging and after getting it home and on the griddle). Use your favorite bacon but I personally love it super peppered.
- After your desired texture has been reached, start pulling those bad boys off the stove. My personal preference is pretty well done to a crisp, but not overly burnt. I had a little trouble getting some of the edges to brown the way I wanted this go round, but I think in the end the strips turned out amazing.
- My bun of choice today is a Seattle local French Bread Hoagie bun.
- Next, we add a nice layer of baby spinach that is freshly washed from my local grocery deli.
- After adding our spinach add your meat of choice. Lately I've been in the mood for turkey so I picked some Primo Taglio Oven Roasted turkey breast. Add a few layers folded over one another neatly across the spinach. If you like condiments go ahead and add a layer here. I'm moody about my condiments and today I decided I just wanted mustard. If I'm being quite honest though and in my most humble opinion, this particular style of sandwich is best with just mustard.
- Next is the crazy part for some and quite frankly your preference of chip type really makes or breaks the sandwich. Today I'm going with classic Doritos but this also goes wonderful with traditional Ruffles. Try and find nice full or flat chips to make things easier. I'm towards the end of this bag so it was a big more challenging finding those awesome chips to lay out. Use the condiment to sorta glue the chips to the meat.
- Now place your bacon strips across the top of the layer of chips you just added. If you're treating your creation right, you'll have a pretty solid foundation to work with here and they shouldn't move around too much. Now add your pickle if you need to between the two bacon strips.
- Lastly, add the top to your magnificent creation. I laughed when I realized I made this one upside down. No worries, it was pretty solid so I was able to easily flip it over.
- This thing turned out absolutely delicious. I hope you guys found some joy in this or maybe even a new lunch/dinner to enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!

Awesome. Looks good. I’m a big chips on the sandwich kinda guy. All different types on all different types of sandwiches...
Smartfood popcorn or Fritos on a PBJ is a classic I’ve been doing since the middle school days. I lean towards potato chips on the meatier sandwiches though.
Adds a nice extra crunch dimension to the sandwich!
Speaking of Fritos! Do you pour your chili into bags of Fritos?
I’ve never poured chili into a bag of Fritos but I’ve definitely poured a bag of Fritos into chili
Mustard in chili is also a strange but satisfying flavor if you like mustard lol
Nice Doritos. I usually prefer to add doritos as i go.
Delicious sandwich.
Hey, ya dipped one in pickle juice lately?
Not straight up, but I loved the combo on my sandwich lastnight! I shall dipperooski today!
