The Russian museum of Ethnography
This palace was built specifically for the Russian Ethnographic Museum in 1903 - 1911. I really like the building. It is beautiful and fits perfectly into the ensemble of the square. I also really like the museum; it has a very interesting collection. The interior of the museum also deserves attention. Museums do not work yet due to quarantine, but we hope that they will open soon.
The main building on Arts Square is the Mikhailovsky Palace, which was built in the early 19th century by the great architect Carlo Rossi in the style of classicism for Russian emperors. At the end of the 19th century the Imperial Art Museum was organized in the building. But additional space for ethnographic collections was needed. A competition for architectural projects of the new museum was held. The project of architect Svinin in the style of neoclassicism won the competition.
