Pumpkin patch

That is a pumpkin flower that you see. What with the harsh climate, it was quite difficult to grow vegetables but the pumpkin plant came out well and is now flowering.

Although the bud is not exactly turning to develop into the fruit is a sad thing. I really hope it does that and we can get those beautiful pumpkins.

We usually make curries from both raw and ripe ones because the ones we get here are good for curries and not jams or sweet dishes.

The most popular curry is the one got by cooking it in coconut milk with just enough salt and green chili. It is not too spicy and has a great taste and is also good for health.

Holy Basil

We love to plant holy Basil plants because they are so good and they purify the air beside the leaves can be eaten raw to cure a cold and cough. These plants can be grown in pots and also kept indoors. The seeds scatter without much effort and it grows without any special care. The leaves can also be given as food to pet budgerigars.

Flowers

The above is the jungle geranium flower. These are grown to not only add color to the garden but it is also said to keep away the insects away from crops nearby. There are many colors, red being the common one but the yellow is really very beautiful.

If you like gardening and are fond of growing plants and doing your bit to 'go green', please do check out @simplymike post and write about it and stand a chance for winning the giveaway.

Sorry for the delay. Any progress on the pumpkin yet? I hope it will grow some.
Those jungle geranium flowers do look beautiful. In whta way do they keep the insects away from the crops? Do they attract them?

Thanks dear. The pumpkin is having some problems although two fruits did appear. We try to spray some tobacco and soap mixture to keep the insects away but our spinach was almost destroyed by a weed and we are trying to regrow again.
