Pearli's Winter Poses and Comfort Food

She, Princess Pearli, just does not do the cold. This is she. Waiting for the Cat's Mother to provide a lap.

The fire's just not good enough. For her. Rambo: happy as Larry...

It was a second solid day of rain. Probably 100mm and more. Floods and destruction, people missing and loss of life in the valley and beyond.

The mixed blessings of nature. One of the blessings, is the mushrooms that pop up in the garden and what joy, now we know we can safel eat them. Not enough to make a whole meal, but enough to inspire a new twist on an old favourite.

On a cold, rainy night, there's nothing like a fire and comfort food. This was a twist on a family favourite of egg and chips. With a decadent side of garden harvested mushrooms braised with garlic and white wine and then topped with locally cured prosciutto and blue cheese before being finished off in the oven.

Instead of chips, I had saved some boiled baby potatoes that I pan fried with butter and olive oil. To finish off, peas and mint.

Lastly, of course, the fried egg. As The Husband says, a fried egg is always good. A bit like a fire on a miserable night, even if winter's not set in. Properly. Yet.

Theoretically, last time I checked, there is still the possibility of rain through today and into tomorrow morning. That could make for an interesting market. We have been working on a Covid-compliant alternative. We can no longer cram everyone into a single small space...

Let's see...

Until next time, be well
