Same Procedure as Last Year: for 21 Years

Last evening, we enjoyed lamb chops and a bottle of wine. What's so special about that?

I shall tell you: 21 years ago, I cooked lamb chops the first time The Husband (he wasn't then) had supper at my table. It was a Friday.

Every year, on February 4th, since then, we have (or try) to have lamb chops. The difference, now, is that The Husband braais.

That bottle of wine, a gift from the owner of that winery, has been waiting (even through lockdown prohibition) for just this occasion.

It's been quite a ride. Neither of us would change it.

Until next time, be well

Lamb Chops will always be one of my favourites, especially when it's braaied!
So sweet that you've kept this tradition going with your Husband Fiona;)
How are the small wineries doing?
I REALLY hope and pray that the alcohol ban stays away forever so that they can start recovering, but unfortunately our people will never learn and we may find this ban being repeated again when the next wave gets out of hand again! My nephew is an ER Specialist and says that it definitely took the pressure off them so they could focus on the influx of Covid cases. As for this 2nd wave, I found it so sad when we started hearing of a number of young and healthy people dying; one during pregnancy and the other the day after giving birth, just awful the heartache many have gone through with this awful virus!
I honestly believe that thousands of lives could have been saved with early use of Ivermectin as that is when it's shown success; by the time doctors did all the paperwork etc to get permission to use it, it's often too late! Just my opinion after reading and hearing about some success stories.
But, enjoy your life in the beautiful Cape mountains Fiona, I'm so thankful we took that trip last year just before lockdown; dying to go back as there was much that we didn't get to see!

It's taken me a while to get here, Lizelle - it's been a little crazy in a good way... Thank you for the good wishes: it's a tradition we enjoy maintaining and it's good to reflect.

The wineries are taking strain. As you know, I am a little like you: understand the need for the alcohol ban but the damage... Our little wineries are soldiering on but who knows what the real damage is. I don't think anyone will. Until this is all over. If it ever will be.

On Ivermectin: I totally understand your sentiments and wish that the compassionate route could be fast-tracked. And now the vaccines are not as efficacious as they thought. Well, with a virus and inevitable mutations, that was inevitable. Hard to catch a constantly changing and moving target.

I am so pleased we're not locked up for autumn - well I hope not. I also hope that I'll be able to celebrate my birthday in a couple of weeks' time at one of our locals with a few friends...

    You stay well and busy!

Let's hope we don't get locked up again but I think we're safe for now.
I'm so tired of not being able to freely visit friends but still have to be careful, we're giving it another week or so.
At least we can enjoy a tipple or two now but it's just not the same!
I'm sure you will get to celebrate your birthday and have a great time!
Enjoy the rest of the week Fiona:)
