What took you so long....?

Well. As most folk who have paid my wibblings on here a passing interst, you'll know that I'm a bit of a vinyl collector. Stemming from my love of music that started in the 70s/80s, when that was the only way you could listen to music on demand (apart from cassette tapes, I guess - just to head the pedants off at the pass)

I've also been in bands or made music in one form or another since the mid/late 80s as well.

But the two have never met.

Until now.

Today, this wonderful thing landed...

Orange is definitely the new black...

I was contacted last year by Hippie Drive Records, asking if they could use my track "I Was" on a compilation.

It's a sad reflection of the times (or on my own cynical outlook) that I was initially dubious, thinking I was about to be dragged into a scheme for separating me from my disposable income.

But that was not the case - Lyonsy from HDR was a absolute gem. He was putting together a compilation of 12 unsigned artists - 6 electronic and 6 guitar-based - and was going to tout it around and do some guerilla marketing to try to get it heard as much as possible - and maybe someone would pick up on it. He'd simply chosen 12 artists from around the world that he liked.

It's been a real honour to be involved. And Lyonsy chose well. It's a cracking little album of music. Each artist has their own sound, but it's all great stuff.

That's a blimmin' good question - I've not asked outright.

Just had a quick chat - sounds he stumbled across me a while back on twitter or something. I know he watched my vlog thing that I started (but didn't continue for long), as he mentioned me doing one from Aus when I was over there - that was late 2019.

So I think he followed me on Apple Music, and when I released I Was, he heard it and loved it enough to ask me to be on the album.

You're such a tart. At this rate there'll not be a indie electronic track without a SUB vocal on it 😆

But, get it where you can is what I say. 😉

Let's talk....

That's really cool. I'd love to have some of my music on vinyl, but will have to keep dreaming for now. Hope lots of people enjoy it.

I was just lucky. The medium may have changed, but it's all still about right place, right time.

Never say never. This came out of the blue - you never know what's around the corner.

And your stuff is cool - some lovely turns of phrase in them thar songs...

It's pretty cool to get a piece of your music on vinyl!
I'm listening to it as I type this, mellow, but effective!
