So Uh, I Heard You Paint Houses
Somewhere in my waking and not waking but barely asleep and almost wide-eyed thoughts throughout some recent evening, I was able to power through a 4 hour movie (with breaks for naps, of course) by Martin Scorsese. It was called 'The Irishman' and was up for at least a dozen awards. Anybody that can sit through 4 hours deserves a frign reward you ask me, but that's besides the point.
It was an interesting reunion of old mafia screen buddies Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Robert de Niro. They even sound Sicilian or something, am I right? The story though, comes from the book, 'I Heard You Paint Houses' written by Charles Brandt. Never read it myself, but I do know how to paint. In fact, it was one of the first things I learned to do in the Navy, before even getting out of basic.
Moving on. The story itself is about Frank Sheeran, who is the first (and may be the only ever) true Irish Mafia boss. He fell in with some guy after the war while delivering (and losing) some steaks trying to earn an honest dollar. This guy led him to Jimmy Hoffa, who became just about his best friend. Which fucking sucked ass (and spoiler if you haven't seen it) because he was ordered to kill his friend. It is what it is.
I grew up watching 'The Godfather' and its sequels and many other 'gangsta' movies thrown in with my martial arts, sci-fi and horror loves. So, to see another (most likely will be) classic come across the silver screen, I had to check it out. I mean, there haven't been any good movies about Hoffa! This one was badass and should get that inner mob boss in you red as hell. STeeM oN people!
