Good day everyone. This is the Part 5 of this interesting, exciting and educative series, Ways To Maximize Your Time As A Businessman. If you have not read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4, I suggest you do that before going through with this article, by clicking here for Part 1, here for Part 2, here for Part 3 and here for Part 4. Can't believe I'm at Part 5 for this series, I'm very excited that you all are finding it very interesting. Back to the discussion of the day, time is one of the most valuable asset we have and yet don't value. If used wisely it gives the best reward. If only we can able to understand just how important it is maximize our time, we all won't think twice before doing trying our very best to maximize our time. The wealthy people don't play with time, everything they are doing have already been calculated and they are maximizing every seconds of the day. You see them spending time with friends and drinking, you think they are wasting their time? No, they are either there to close a deal with a friend or create a good network that will help them with something in the future, but they have to be able to appear as though they are having fun and maybe they are truly having fun but also trying to make more money from the fun they are having. They don't just waste their time, they maximize their time to the fullest.

In this article, we would be looking at one way we can be able to maximize our time better as businessmen.

Stop Multitasking

One of the best way you can be able to maximize your time as a businessman is to stop multitasking. "What is he saying, I thought that if you want to maximize your time, multitasking should be highly recommended?" I know that's what majority of you are asking yourself right now. It is a popular belief that multitasking helps to save time since you are doing multiple things at the same time. Sounds and feels correct but have you ever multitasked and saw the benefit of the supposed belief of multitasking? I'm here to debunk the popular belief, multitasking doesn't maximize your time, it does the direct opposite, it takes your valuable time away. According to NPR reports, humans can not physically multitask. Our brain create an illusion that we are saving time, since we are doing multiple things at the same time, but the reality is that, we are not fast enough as we think and we are not operating at our optimum level. This might result to us making mistakes, and then going back to those mistakes to correct them, hence, wasting valuable time.

We are not efficient when we multitask, our work or tasks won't be of high standard and also we wouldn't finish the tasks faster than if we had focused on just one task at a time. Why do we have a receptionist? Her task is to receive calls and attend to visitors coming. Just imagine, you want to multitask and do both a receptionist task and your task as a manager, you won't be functioning at your optimum level, and you might be making some silly mistakes at both tasks. Do you think for an organization to have an organization structure and hierchaky????, they are silly and have money to throw around by employing people for different roles? They are not silly, they know that multitasking won't have the desired effect, it is believed to have. Have you ever tried cooking and doing like two other tasks. You will most likely get your food burnt and you won't be functioning properly on the other two tasks because your mind will be at the food. So, you are basically wasting your time doing those tasks and you are putting your food at risk of not tasting sweet and getting burnt. During my school days, I was trying to be a serious student. I will be reading my book while cooking. Funny thing, I didn't grab anything I was reading and my food always tasted as shit or got burnt. I had to stop, and focus on cooking when I'm cooking and I enjoyed my food and after enjoying my food, I read adequately with my full concentration on my book. And it served me better, because my food taster better and I finish cooking faster than before. Multitasking seems like a time saver, but it is a time waster. Start maximizing your time today, by stopping multitasking.

We must always be focused on a single task in this way we can be more efficient. There is a saying that quotes the following: "who makes many chickens will burn all of them".

Then we must concentrate on being born only one thing and we will see that we will be much more successful.

Finally, I comment on your article (smiles). It's very true, I have noticed it too. Whenever I'm feeling too smart and I start multitasking, I don't get the desired effect and get the direct opposite. I do the tasks longer than I expect.

Great content and thanks for sharing with us @taiwo-writes

Greetings my friend @taiwo-writes thank you for your input, I certainly agree with your postulate "time is our best investment" I thought we were capable of multitasking now I understand that our biological system would not be efficient for such a task and that we must handle one task at a time.

Time is a very serious factor which never seems to be enough- we have a plan to accomplish a task in the next one hour and before we know it one hour is up already, learning how to manage time is one thing that entrepreneurs indeed need to learn.
