I talked about the hijacking of links by Brave and adding their own affiliate links in the previous post. I mentioned that this could be bad for the blockchain but I think that Brave has set the record straight by apologizing for what they did.

To be honest, I never thought the CEO of Brave, Brendan Eich will apologize for this publicly but he proved me wrong and did what is best for Brave and for the whole crypto community. He took to Twitter and apologized to the community saying that this was a mistake and they are correcting it.

Brave has faced huge criticism over this and many people wrote publicly that they will stop using Brave browser because of this. They may have lost thousands of users and it becomes necessary to restore the faith everyone had in Brave. While the image of the company has degraded after the link redirecting incident, this apology may help restore it a bit.

Brave unveiled its advertising system last year and so far, it has worked pretty nicely. Users get paid in BAT for viewing ads that respect privacy and there is no exchange of personal data if you are opt-in for these ads. The ads appear as push notifications and it depends on the user whether they would like to view it or skip it.

I think it was really a good move to apologize and it might help Brave regain the users that they lost because of this. The key here in the blockchain is transparency and it Brave continues to be transparent with their users, I don't see a reason why they can't overtake Chrome any time soon.

Download Brave and start earning BAT.
