What psychology is behind the person who saves?

Generally when we save some resource it is because we can be based on some philosophy of safeguarding the future, however it would be very interesting to study the psychology that is involved in the thinking of the person who saves.

Although we can accumulate monetary economic wealth and material goods of different kinds, it is important that the most precious asset that is above any material wealth is the welfare that we obtain in our lives and that makes us feel happy most of the time or whenever possible.

The psychology of the saver may not be an individual's own philosophy, but may be rooted in the philosophy imposed on us by economic models that encourage exaggerated consumption and therefore also push us to develop a psychology based on economic savings, and it is not that saving is bad, what is bad is that saving is our main concern and is a constant part of our lives.

We can place ourselves in the extreme counterpart of this psychology of saving, and there are also people who think that everyone who saves is a cheapskate, and all this because the person with a psychology of saving avoids at all costs to spend on things he considers unnecessary, the idea of this post is not to impose a unique philosophy of saving, as everything in life has its pros and cons, so I will try to reach the middle ground of this constant straight called saving.

To all these premises previously explained, it is worth asking ourselves:

What are the reasons that drive people to save?

Looking for that middle ground I could say that people who adopt healthy savings is because they see their economic future frustrated based on few opportunities to undertake their own employment, so they end up sacrificing some present income in order to have their own business in the future that will end up providing welfare and quality of life to him and his family.

I conclude this brief analysis by saying that whatever we do in our lives is good as long as we keep ourselves in balance, so applying a psychology oriented to saving is really worthwhile as long as we can live in an orderly manner and without excesses of any kind.

Sometimes savings are based on personal or close experiences in which the family economy collapsed and becomes impulsive and disproportionate, so much so that in the end what was saved is enjoyed and wasted by the heirs. This is the case of those who fled the war to other countries and managed to save money for the future, although they were not part of it.

What you say is very valid friend, sometimes we save for the future, but we do not know if those savings end up being enjoyed by someone else and not by us.

Greetings and thanks for commenting on my post.

Hello friend, certainly not all of us are born with that thrifty instinct, but it is something we can learn in our education, I think it is necessary to know about encomia and finances, that will help us to be able to carry our expenses in a stable way and to know our income and expenses. Greetings and thanks for sharing.

Stability is a very important point in the psychology of the saver, so economic stability must be considered at all times.

Hello friend @sandracarrascal.

An interesting topic that you raise in this opportunity, where it is important to highlight what you express:

Everything we do in our life is good as long as we keep ourselves in balance, so it is really worth applying a psychology oriented to saving as long as we can live in an orderly manner and without excesses of any kind.

Here you summarize in an excellent way the issue raised, thanks for sharing your interesting article. Greetings.

Certainly the balance of income and expenses gives us the opportunity not to overdo it in savings but not to overspend either.

For me it's actually because I want a better tomorrow and so I starve myself today. If I were to spend how everyone else is spending I won't have a dime to my name but just some over priced vanities
