Racism lately has been a sensitive issue worldwide and especially in the United States, the case of George Floyd and the #blacklivesmatter seeking to change the perspective of people and the world, now a new movement has emerged known as #StopHateforProfit And as its name says, it seeks to eliminate “hate” from social networks.
Social networks are a means of expression we can go there and express our opinions, many have used them to spread their hatred and that is a reality, a group of people organized and started the #StopHateforProfit movement and Twitter was the first to respond , the first to understand that they as a medium have the responsibility to take action, to do something, to be the judge on their own platform.
So they decided to tag a tweet from President Donald Trump, considering that the content of the message promoted hate.
This is how #StopHateforProfit began to gain ground the giant Twitter had already taken action, so they asked Facebook to do the same to warn users about hateful content. But Facebook did nothing, which caused more than 200 companies to join, to remove Facebook advertising for the month of July.
Coca-Cola, Pepsico, Starbucks among other companies joined, adding a total of more than 200 companies, who agreed not to pay advertising to Facebook for the month of July, causing Facebook to lose 40 billion dollars in value of market in just 2 days, so our friend Mark Zuckerberg changed his mind and arranged a meeting with the United States Anti-Defamation League, who are the main promoters and leaders of #StopHateforProfit.
They want Facebook remove public and private groups engaged in violent conspiracies and to reimburse companies whose ads show racist content, Facebook is known to have done a better job of identifying hateful and racist content at least it did better than Twitter. and you tube, the question is what measures will you take.
It is known that Facebook is in favor of not censuring elected politicians, because it thinks that if they were elected, people have the right to know what leaders think without any censorship, but the loss of millions of ads will surely make them change their minds.
