It is believed that the attackers accessed the company's tools, by hacking an employee, that is, they hacked a single employee and that gave them access to a whole universe. Apart from the strong password, these people used 2-step verification , so it is the Twitter platform itself that was hacked, the strategy of changing the password was used and the same email was used to recover the passwords.

Twitter responded by disabling the password change, also disabling all tweets from verified accounts and offered apologies.
