Hello @mintymile
This is good news, knowing that your dad is already home, and with a good level of oxygen saturation.
The recovery is slow, I tell you the following, I don't know if the doctors gave you that information.
The problem with covid at the lung level is that it injures, destroys tissue that is necessary for the gas exchange, that is to say, incorporating oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide.
That's why the O2 levels drop.
But, after the Crown is gone, there is a process of restoration of the lung tissues, they never really return to the mess they were, because fibrosis occurs, this is the result of the body's internal healing process.
A scar forms on the skin when there is a wound but inside the body it is called Fibrosis.
The recovery is usually slow, more at advanced ages
A 36 year old cousin, healthy, without any basic diseases gave Covid, and the wife too, months ago, and they still have some episodes of "lack of air" in the face of certain efforts.
So, your dad is fine, that's the important thing, the worst is over, but he will get better little by little.
I imagine that you will be happy for this good news, for having your dad at home.

No doctor did not tell me this, but it will get restored right the lungs...

I take it you say the tissues will have to heal by itself as there is fibrosis, but original condition of the lungs won't come back?...

Yeah I am very glad Dad is safe at home...its incredible. TOday he started doing minor house chores like washing vessels... I am very glad he is safe and healing to some degree!!
