Let's go explore with EXODE

avatar

You're probably saying, here comes another Dave version of spam post. I may seem spamming games stuff, but it's my passion. For God knows reason, lately I've been spending so much time in playing games, old retro games to online games. Sorry for another part of the community, I'm still playing with #drugwars from #steem #blockchain. Anyway, enough of that rant! It's time to check out one of the latest game in #hive #blockchain , #exode

image.png

I have not been following much development, so I'm actually quite new into this environment, not knowing what to expect, and not sure how to move forward. Fortunately, I saw this post from @elindos, which was referred by @crypto.piotr on the existance of this game, immediately I told Piotr I'll take a look after the meeting. I was still busy at work the time Piotr dropped me the link, and it's very late in the evening, by right I should head home immediately get brush up and go to sleep.

On my way back home after the meeting, I hooked the phone up the central console in the car, connected with the in car entertainment system, and OMG! The introduction video caught my eye, and the music is absolutely amazing. As a long time Trekkie myself, and also a big fan of techno/electronic, instantly fall in love with the video. Decided to give it a try, and immediately texted Piotr to leave me a link to join the game.

image.png

Due to how the world is structured, and both me and Piotr living the other part of the time zone, the conversation has gone beyond 24hours before I get back my referral code. Don't worry, I totally understand, which is why Discord is there, so we can catch up easily. Immediately after I got my referral code, the first thing to do is try to login, and the landing page has guide me to purchase a starter pack. I'm not exactly sure what to do with it, but let's give it a try. Who knows, this could be my another passion and I can oftenly blog about it and share my achievement with you all.

image.png

The pack took me 57.7HIVE, which is similar to $10. Let's talk about value, forget about cheap or expensive. If this thing bring enough fun, excitement of space exploration, $10 is a small price to pay. But if this is going to be boring like any other online space exploration game... well I'll just treat that 10 dollars as if I ate 3 happy meals and shit it all out at once. There's nothing to regret of. It's only a game. Without further a due, let's get on with checking out. Mind you, I have absolutely no idea what the hell am I doing. I only I've paid 57.7HIVE, and it's up to me to explore now.

image.png

As expected, there will always be people whom trying to get the booster package in bulk so they can obtain certain specialty, and then they will sell the existing pack at lower price. Can't do much about it. In the end, I'm not the one who paid 400 dollars. From what I understand, spending for 40 booster package will give me an edge for a head start. Let's just assume I'm an ordinary player and do not wish to spend beyond my mean, let's see what this $10 can get me through.

Moment of truth

image.png

Sound like a good deal, but I'm not exactly sure how good these cards are. Or I could be an idiot to show you all my cards. So for now, let me just quickly get the game started first.

image.png

Without reading instruction, without knowing everything on anything at all, I have stuff up the ship and getting ready to launch.

image.png

Here comes the warning message, I hope this don't burn my 10 dollars immediately or I will quit the damn game.

image.png

Oh well. Here's the first PROBLEM. This is what I don't understand, why do people always use big negative words, FAIL and PROBLEM occurred in the same page.

Anyway, I'm a little exhausted for the day. Life has been challenging, and the amount of time I could spend infront of computer screen started to shrink. I've joined EXODE Discord hub now, and hopefully tomorrow things will be automatically sorted out, and hopefully if there's seniors who will guide me what should I do with the cards, I will be more than happy to have that.

Hello @davidke20!
Thank you for jumping into eXode!

Sorry for the little problem you had, first of all here is the link to the D47 version with fixed starter:
https://digitalself.io/gameclients/exode/

We are implementing and releasing version E this month!
This one can be played with all your custom starter.

  • you can't lose your cards! ever! you are safe here!

  • a starter has an Origin (required for playing),
a ship (required for... well, evacuating to a new galaxy! so required for playing too!),
and a full complement of officers and crew members.

  • the scientific starter has an amazing potential for inventing your own assets thanks to your planet. This part will be unlocked as soon as colonization is added. Many players look forward to that moment, so yeah you definitely joined the science club :D

Right now you can trade cards and packs and experience the evacuation scene (either with the demo link, or as soon as you get rid of this keychain broadcast issue). your issue is not a permanent bug, it one can occur with a double click or something we haven't fixed yet, but people manage to play it after retrying.

Also, don't hesitate to use the "save deck" and "load deck" feature!
Welcome to eXode captain!

Thanks buddy! Ship exploded twice and I'm in miserable scene right now. Will be back again trying to figure out how to kick those thieves out of my cargo bay and to figure how to shoot those assholes at the hall station.

Good article, I wanted to start the game but I can not pay the package, you can recommend a game of the chain of blocks in which I can win coins.

I'm not too sure if there is any free game out there that allows you to earn coin. But I do play with #drugwars in #steem blockchain which I'm not supposed to promote it here. But if you're interested and don't mind the contradictory running rage between the two blockchain, please use my referral link and join us to earn some #steem. Good luck.

Hi @davidke20

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this particular game. I've never played any card games myself, so I'm finding exode quite challenging and difficult to understand.

However, I definetly appreciate amount of work and effort put by developers of this project. And helping them to spread the word about Exode is nothing but pleasure.

the first thing to do is try to login, and the landing page has guide me to purchase a starter pack. I'm not exactly sure what to do with it, but let's give it a try.

I also had similar impression. I wasn't sure even for a second what are those starter packs about and why would I need one lol.

well I'll just treat that 10 dollars as if I ate 3 happy meals and shit it all out at once.

You're killing me buddy! :D

Let's discuss this screen:
image.png

I'm not sure about you, but I found this menu ... ugly and user unfriendly. Why would I need to tilt my head to the side in order to be able to read the menu? Blah. Small strike.

Oh well. Here's the first PROBLEM. This is what I don't understand, why do people always use big negative words, FAIL and PROBLEM occurred in the same page.

Would you suggest using some other terms?

Yours, Piotr

Thank you for your reply @crypto.piotr. Generally, a game is a game, some people are just very into it, they can see the "logic" behind every single game, they can see the blueprint, they can see the argument on many aspect, and therefore these people are good at almost every game. Take hive or steem for example, some people are just designated to understand how to cut a shorter path to get there amazingly fast, some have been here writing for years and still trying to figure out why their post have only a few cents worth. Some, are in their zone which they don't really care and never even claim their reward afterall. So, I wouldn't even categorize myself in the game zone. I just like the graphics, and I wish I can skip all the hassle of playing(the enjoyable part, the excitement of the game) and go straight to the next level. If you didn't notice, I've been recording my NES game play video for months now and I'm enjoying it.

The side way line up, I kinda get the idea. If you're a space and science geek, you'll probably imagine a bunch of astronaut standing at the central console and navigating a touching screen and arranging stuff.

Naturally, by arranging the wordings going around the circumference allowing everyone surrounding the table can see a little bit of where the current selection and what to expect coming up next.

However, as a rational programmer myself, naturally all the FACT came back to my mind. What about the no gravity of space? Why do they need to STAND on deck when they can float? They probably easier to float than standing in one spot when going through a briefing.

So, I'm literally too logic when given time to think, instead of enjoying the game, I will dive in the "this doesn't make sense" detail when the game makes me think to much. ROTFFLMFAO
