Luck is the residue of hard work

I was watching one of those murder porn detectives shows on Discovery ID the other day and it was about an interesting case. The police had been investigating a murder and run out of leads. However, the case was still on their mind, despite being open for the good part of three years.

From all indication, this was a cold case but it still lingered in the minds of the two officers in charge. So three years later, some random guy gets arrested for robbery, home invasion, stalking and a bunch of other charges. he was also a nut job and after deducing that his travel route was similar to that of the deceased, he was investigated even further.

At the end of the day, he confessed to the murder twice. Both times were to fellow inmates that cut a deal with police officers. While it is crazy that officers cut deals with prisoners, I also understand the rationale. Use people in prison for small crimes to catch the bigger criminals.

The mad man in question got a lighter sentence and pleaded for manslaughter but he died in prison before he could even be released. However, what this case taught me is the importance of constantly working for your goal.

You see, this guy in question wasn't even in the mix and in theory, if he had stopped his life of crime from that moment, he would have gotten away with the crime. However, a leopard never changes its spots and the asshole continued with his horrible ways.

His criminal ways fell straight into the scope of the law and he was gunned down in his tracks. On the balance of things, I'd say he got what he deserves but it's not about him or the bereaved family, this post is about the police officers.

In sports, they say you make your own luck. In football, the team that shoots the highest number of shots on target doesn't always score more goals in a match but it is statistically proven that shots will generally put you in an advantageous position.

Sometimes you do something once and it just clicks. It's a good feeling I tell you and whenever I think about those beautiful moments, they put a smile on my face. However, there will be other times when you do everything right but it doesn't just seem to work out.

In those moments, you just have to reevaluate your steps, check if you could do things differently and execute. However, the most important thing is that you keep doing something. There's no assurance that everything will work out but there's always going to be the hope that if there's even a slight chance of things going right, then it will almost certainly work out in your favour.

I love the way you used this case to buttress your point about constantly working on your goal. I believe that with determination and dedication, every goal is attainable. Even luck itself answers to work. No wonder a popular phrase has it that "if you want things to work, then you must work it out".

Nice piece as usual buddy. Thanks for sharing

Hello friend, I agree the most important thing is to move forward, life has many nuances, there will be good days and others not. But it is important to be focused on our objectives and goals. Perseverance and discipline are part of it. Greetings!

Luck does not exist, everything is causal, we build it ourselves with discipline and dedication.
