Today I started to play Dcity.png

Yesterday, I was reading a post by @jongolson where he writes about his passion on this blockchain, the games. He plays mainly Splinterlands and Dcity.

I've been playing Splinterlands for ages and regularly manage to reach Champions League level with my first team. I've looked at Dcity a couple of times but I didn't manage to get interested enough to understand the cards and the game so far.

After reading this post, I've decided to give it another try and I was lucky to be able to discuss the basics with @jongoslon and @kevinli in discord. I bought my first cards but quickly realized that if I wanted to do things correctly, I needed to understand the game better. From my experience in Splinterlands, I've learned that it is not always a good idea to blindly buy packs...

I've started with a spreadsheet

When I do something, I try to do it well. So I created a spreadsheet and I listed all the cards and their stats on it. Then I went to the market and checked the different prices for these cards. This allowed me to calculate a return per card. How much would I earn for my investment? What amazed me was to see that some cards give a return of over 300% APR. This got me intrigued and I'm very happy I made these calculations before investing too much.

Keeping population buildings and production buildings in balance

What I understood from the game is that we should try to balance the population with the needed workers. If there are not enough workers, then the production doesn't work fully. If there are too many workers and not enough jobs, then there is unemployment that actually costs money.

I tried to figure out which population building has the best ROI and with the current market prices this was the luxury home card. Then I tried to figure out which production building had the best return and this was the hotel card.

Buying and building

I've been buying and building luxury homes and hotels for more than an hour. I've more or less spend my earnings from Splinterlands of the last two seasons and I even burned a gold card or two. Not that I plan to leave Splinterlands but I have a certain budget allocated to games and if I take some from Splinterlands to build Dcity this works for me.

I'm quite proud of the little city I have built so far and I'm happy to see that I will get like 700 SIM every day from this. My plan is now to boost this city as fast as possible to reach the top 400 in the ranking. This will allow me to earn daily Hive that I will be able to reinvest into the game.

Let's say I got hooked...

Let's connect on Hive, Lbry or on Publish0x

Thanks for the great tips. I've put about everything available into it. From now on it will have to grow more organically ;-)

That is so cool! All that in a day?
Do you need an intervention? Ahaha
Keep up the good work 😁

I was close to needing one LOL. I started to burn gold cards to get more SIM tokens.

Well I can really say how I will look at it in the long run. In just one day I got pretty addicted. I think it speaks to nerd minds like mine where you can use spreadsheets to calculate the best returns LOL.

Well I'm quite new into this but I like it quite a lot. I hope you will be able to finance a PC so that you can use the full potential of the blockchain. Thanks for your wishes!

I couldn't understand what people saw in this game until I dived a bit deeper into it. Now I get them quite well :-). Thanks for stopping by!

Hello @achim03
I must confess that I have never played anything in blockchain or anywhere else really.
But, this game I see has many users in it.
I have no idea how to play it, but I assume that it should not be complicated
Good luck with that.

To me it looked too complicated and I didn't feel like investing in cards. However when I read my friends post and talked with some users, I've realized that there is a huge return possible from this game. Once you are into it, it's not that complicated.

Hello friend, it sounds very interesting this game that you mention, I have never participated in games in the blockchain of steemit and hive, it seems to me according to the description that you realize that it is a game that can leave very good income.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, see you later !

I've avoided many games on the blockchain for a long time but then people kept writing about them and I started to join most of them just because of curiosity. So far I've been hooked on splinterlands,Rabona and Dcity since yesterday.

Keeping population buildings and production buildings in balance

You get the basic right on very first day. Hope you will enjoy the game.

Welcome to dCity, @achim03! Glad to see you there.
It's just starting. When you reinvest your earnings, you can grow your city faster. I can feel we will read more posts about dCity where you show your analysis and experience.

Wish you all the best!

Thanks a lot for stopping by and your welcoming words. I deduct that you play dCity as well? My strategy is to continue to build the city in the coming days and to increase the population and my ranking. Reinvesting the earnings will be the main income source for that :-)

Hello @achim03

To do things well in this kind of games, or rather, to make the least amount of mistakes, it is always good, to study every detail of the game before making any investment. In my case, I haven't dared to play Dcity yet, I'll probably try at some point. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I've learned the hard way with other games that investing first and understanding later can be quite an expensive behaviour. So I totally agree with what you say. It's good to understand as much as possible in a game before investing.

If your city is "solid" right now, with its income you could grow further and further. I started small: first I could buy a new card every six days from my earned SIM, now every five days. I love that you don't have to pay too much attention to it ;)

It's true that compared to Splinterlands, Dcity is much less time intensive. Thats quite nice and it's kind of an additional passive income source. I love it :-).

I've been searching the Hive for different dcity builds and what other people think is most profitable. Hotels are good, huh? I don't have a single one. It's about time I change that now. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I don't know whether my calculations are that accurate. I simple calculated the return (income / price) of each building and this is how hotels were the best. Maybe popularity should also be factored in.
