After the Storm Comes... ? Post Alliance Thoughts & SteemPeak Troubleshooting!

Preamble: This post is actually a bit of an experiment. A system test, of sorts. If the first image you see contains an error message, it means I was not able to post from SteemPeak...

I have been having trouble posting from SteemPeak — which is actually my favorite App — and following all the recent uproar over the Steemit/Tron alliance, I thought I'd do a little housecleaning.

Included in this, trying to figure out why @steempeak returns a variety of error messages when I try to post.

I have NO idea what this means, given that people post in all manners of non-English labguages with special characters...

I used SteemPeak almost exclusively some months back — without problems — but coinciding with installing the KeyChain app for signing posts and other actions, things don't work so well.

I can log in, look at everything, create drafts of posts, but the moment I try to send them through to the blockchain, I get various error messages.

After the Storm Comes... "Housecleaning"

So housecleaning means making sure all the bits and pieces I like using are actually working. Not because I am having the same types of panic attacks many around here seem to be suffering from, but because it's simply good practice to make sure your bits and pieces are in order.

Hereunder, I like posting from SteemPeak the best so it should work for me. I'm tired of writing the post on SteemPeak, and then having to copy/paste to another front end in order to get it to publish.

Besides, it feels like we are in a bit of a "hurry up and wait" pattern at the moment, so might as well make use of the holding pattern... regardless of what the later outcome will be!

So I'll be working on that, today. Which got me to the next line of thinking.

How We PROMOTE What We Do Here...

Back in "another life" I worked in the Usability and Human Factors Lab at a Fortune 500 OEM company. A large part of my job was neither coding nor sales & marketing, but looking at our products to ensure they were easy and intuitive to use.

In many ways, it make me the "Most Hated" person around, because I cared neither for whether something was "brilliant code" nor whether "it would be a best seller," I simply needed to establish whether real people in the real world could easily understand and use what we made, without having to call tech support or consult the FAQs.

Some truly brilliant coding is pretty much useless unless it does something real people relate to. Similarly, knowing you can sell millions of something is useless if it's actually a P.O.S. everyone will hate, once they get it.

So putting this in context around my working out the SteemPeak kinks, it's a great thing that we have initiatives like #promosteem and #posh and such things, but it also matters that we consider the first impression our sharing makes.

First Impressions MATTER!

To that end — at least for my money — SteemPeak offers the most user-friendly, feature-rich and intuitive front end we currently have... and thus, would be the most appropriate to use in links designed to draw people to the community from "the outer world."

That doesn't mean I am not supportive of Steemit, Dtube, SteemLeo or any of the other front ends, it simply means I am placing primary priority on "what will people SEE, when they click on this link?"

Which is really kinda important, if we are seriously using these promotional efforts to draw in new community members.

I realize it's easy to fall into the thought pattern that your #posh sharing is about getting bigger upvotes, and attracting people you think might upvote your post.

Seriously, though, we're trying to build a bigger member base here, not just line our own pockets!

Dare to be a little selfless, in a "selfish" manner! Meaning... recognize that your promotional efforts are designed to get you more followers... in the future, rather than an upvote today.

We'll have @asgarth take a look into what that error message means. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

(Edited)

I now have the same when:
Trying to cross post
once when I wanted to vote
and just now when I wanted to promote my latest post (which ended in promoting it twice)

It takes a few attempts (sometimes with no feedback, sometimes with the 'user rejected transaction') then it works...

I want to USE all this great features, @asgarth!

Really happy with all the things they have been doing as of late. Seeing amount of views content is getting from the Steempeak platform is amazing with it being the one i promote the links for the most.
