I don't usually publish film reviews, because I don't consider myself a specialist in the field and I think there are people who have more arguments and a basis for judging and criticizing (in the good sense of the word) a work of the seventh art.

However, there are times when a film "asks" me to talk about it, for some special reason. Such is the case of the film I bring to the table today.

"The Martian" (known in Latin countries as "Mission Rescue"), is a film by the famous British director Ridley Scott, who has had many successes in his career, such as Thelma & Louise (1991), Gladiator (2000), Hannibal (2001), Black Hawk Down (2001), American Gangster (2007), Prometheus (2009). He has stood out as a director in more than 50 films and as a producer of almost 150.

This film, shot during 2014 and released the following year, tells the story of an astronaut who was stranded on Mars after his fellow travelers left him for dead during a storm.

During a mission to Mars by the manned spacecraft Ares III, a severe storm breaks out, so after astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is reported missing and dead, his companions make the decision to leave. He has survived, but is alone and with few resources on the planet. With very few resources, he will have to resort to his knowledge, his sense of humor and a great instinct of survival to manage to survive and communicate to the Earth that he is still alive, waiting for them to come to his rescue.
 

No doubt the performance was very well achieved, as he achieved seven Oscar nominations, as well as winning two of the Golden Globes and BAFTA nominations.

It is evident that Ridley Scott knows how to handle space travel films, as he already has extensive experience in the field, starting with the work that catapulted him to fame, "Alien, the Eighth Passenger".

So the result is obvious and good without discussion. But the biggest impact for me was the final message left by the film, which since I saw it has become a reference and guide. What seemed to be the most difficult mission to achieve, practically an impossible one, is becoming a reality with a simple procedure: to go ordering tasks and fulfilling each one.

This procedure, which may sound elementary (perhaps I should say more, the lack of it), is what makes most projects fail. Although it is a fiction film, one is able to see how even the most absurd objective becomes achievable, with adequate planning and the systematic fulfillment of each step or phase of the project.

So, even if you are not a lover of science fiction movies or space travel, I recommend you to open a space in your agenda to watch this interesting adventure, which will surely provide you with an important vision for your future projects.
