Why do we all need them?

Neil Patel

As everyone here already knows (or should know it), Hive is an awesome blockchain platform where what really matters is the decentralization of thoughts, ideas and concepts of the users who are part of it and help to build an increasingly democratic place for everyone writing their posts. In parallel to this, there is the chance to gain knowledge, friends and money here.

Newer users may not know it, but Hive came out of a need and as a renewal alternative to what Steemit became after it was bought by Justin Sun. Today, Steemit is bound to fail, while Hive comes growing fast. But, although different in their essence, there is still something in common between these two platforms: the undeniable importance of engagement and comments among users.

Let's imagine that Hive is a plant. What happens to a plant when you, for example, do not water it? Inevitably, the plant will die of thirst. Then, Hive without interaction and engagement between users (which is translated through the comments) would die because it would be an empty place and without any purpose. So, I believe this example makes it clear what I mean and opens a space for a very interesting and necessary discussion.

Bright View

Particularly speaking, writing for this post for this initiative reminds me of my first months within the blockchain world. In the beginning, what I understood was just the basics and made only small movements that did not allow me to enjoy everything that this new universe had to offer me... However, something was still missing and I had to find out what it was.

Everything started to change when I, in addition to literally "studying" how it all worked, I started to interact with other users and understand that it was not just about what I posted, but about everything that was happening around me and that I need to have knowledge and interact with them too. I had to be part of the ecosystem as an integral part and not just as an accessory or just "another new user".

Once I understood the importance of comments, everything became more functional and became even more important for me. In addition to being able to have fun writing about the things I like, I have the chance to gain knowledge about many cultural aspects from around the world (which I think is something just amazing... because it's like traveling without leaving home), make new friends and earn extra money that has been extremely important to me.

The strongest point when it comes to engagement is to understand that without comments, it will never happen in an efficient way and will not bring any benefit to anyone. All users are "dependent" on each other and even if some of them do not think that way, without the help of others, they would not survive here. In other words, they would be nobody here. It's like a win-win game, so... There has to be cooperation.

I write has been viewed well or badly by other users and this feedback only happens when I read a comment regarding my posts. Our voice is basically what we write ... So, this is how we make ourselves seen around here. Without interaction and comments, this cannot happen. It is the natural course of growth within the platform. The "dependency" happens because here, there is an exchange of thoughts and points of view about what is being published.

You "need" me for the same to happen to you, after all, if nobody comments on what you publish... What feedback will you have on what you are publishing?

After all that I have just written, I think it is not so difficult to understand how necessary and important comments are between users. Whether in responses to your own posts or commenting on other users' posts, interaction through comments is the key to healthy and true growth, where real interest in the topic discussed happens on your own initiative (and not because someone imposed it on you). Being true is what makes the gear work.

That's my entry for #HiveComments - Interaction Initiative, which is promoted by @theycallmedan and also supported by @garybilbao, @elcomentador, @acidyo and @eddiespino.

It is good to others beginning to leave a few comments on various post. It does not take many two or three. I am not a big user of Youtube and even less of a user of facebook, but I do see some good vids with only a few comments and lots of likes/thumbs downs. There are also what I felt were poorly executed videos that received a lot of comments. I am sure when both those platforms began the number of comments were a lot less per post than they are now, it will take time, but slowly people are understanding that if we want a part of Hive Block Chain to function as a Social Sector along with all the others uses of Hive Block Chain, then we need to be social and that means making comments.

How nice to read your story about how you have grown in Hive and about the importance of the comments, this is precisely the idea of our initiative and not only that... we make real connections when we answer the comments that are written to our posts and interact with the public, providing mutual knowledge.

Thank you very much for participating in our initiative, i hope to see good comments from you again soon.
