Heavy Rain Does Not Deter the Work Spirit

That afternoon a cloudy sky blanketed Lhokseumawe City. I rushed out of the building where I worked, with the intention that if it rained I would have to get home. But whatever power, rain is faster flushed the city and my trip. I passed the city road and turned to go through Darussalma Village, a village that was decorated with culinary places that attracted many people both Lhokseumawe residents and residents from out of town.

The atmosphere is a deserted culinary village that I met. Maybe because of physical distancing or because of heavy rain so people are reluctant to go out to shop for food. Even though at that time, it was still lunch time.

I followed the road carefully because the rain was getting heavier and thunder also rumbled. I then turned left to the Gramedia bookstore. Because of heavy rain, I was reluctant to get out of the vehicle that I was riding. I parked a four-wheeled vehicle right in front of the Bus Terminal. I sat and waited for the rain to fall. I hope it rains fast and goes home quickly. But after a few seconds, a middle-aged mother in a blue raincoat appeared with a broom in her right hand and a trash bin in her left hand. The blue rain coat worn covered his entire body so that I could not see the mother's face.

Saturday May 3 2020, not hot. But the rainy day was so heavy that in front of me and my mother the rain water overflowed from the sewers carrying rubbish that had been buried due to lack of awareness of people throwing garbage in the space provided. The mother greeted the garbage and put it in the place it carried. A scene that shows the identity of a city sanitation warrior, tirelessly, forgetting the death of his life if in the middle of heavy rain that lightning also grabbed. In my heart is unmoved by reason, extraordinary this mother. Great care for the environment that brought it to forget the situational like heavy rain and lightning that was rumbling. The atmosphere that he was told that he was fasting, did not fade the spirit of work, the spirit of love in a clean environment and in the end with the struggle "the smoke of his house" could billow even though it was not comparable with the values of his struggle.

With the encouragement run by the mother, I also tried to capture her work with some photos. Salute to mothers who care about cleanliness, the spirit that inherits Kartini today, and the spirit of utopia that may be felt thanks to the meaning of a fasting service. Thank you mom. Happy fasting. May the abundant blessings of God be with you and your family. ***
