MMAYEN'S SCENT
A TRUE LIFE STORY!
The scent of an unpleasant local toilet warmly greeted the pupils of class three in st. Maria's model school and gradually the vanilla-fantasy spray that formerly accompanied Mrs. Efik, when she entered the class-room was no where to be found...
Wondering where the offensive smell emanated from, behold, Mmayen was seen walking down the last rows of the classroom..The pupils rumoured and held their nose to Savage the situation but that would not help the situation completely...
Mmayen a pretty girl between the age range of 9 and 10 was a nuisance to her classmates, she was always very cold in class, constantly distracted/not paying attention and not interested with academic generally. She had no friend and no teacher wanted to be seen or identified with Mmayen. Nobody cared to ask questions, all they knew was that she is always smelling and most be avoided..

It was my first time doing the routine check-up of late- Comer's and off course I was new to the environment.. As I carried out my duty in class three (3), I perceived an odour that nearly made me throw-up, when I asked, the pupils and the class-teacher laughed sarcastically and pointed to Mmayen.. looking at her, I wondered why a girl of her age will stink so badly.. I tried questioning her but noticed she would not speak- up due to the shame and ridicule she received earlier so I begged her to come to my class during the Break period. After a brief silence,she promised to show up and I was grateful for the positive response..
I tried asking the teacher vital questions in a bid to gather resources to enable me counsel her properly but she said she can't bother her-self or waste her precious time on such pupils. Hmmmm, I quickly knew that the first thing Mmayen was faced with was dejection/negligence..

My heart was overwhelmed when I saw Mmayen walk into my classroom.. I won't say that the air around her was welcoming but I had to find out the secret behind it.

Mmayen's story Left me broken and tearful.... After several introductory questions, she was able to open up to me that her father and her uncle were constantly all over her. She explained that she never grew up to see her mother and that her promiscious father told her that her mother died few minutes after she was born..She was raised by her Grandmother who was a widow and died few years ago... According to her, she returned to her father after her Grandmother's funeral and a week later, her nightmares at dawn began..Her father constantly slept with her at night and his Younger brother would do same in his absence..Her dad constantly sealed her mouth with bread and a selotape/ paper gum to ensure no one heard her screaming..She said even if she told people around, no one will belief her because of how gentle her father appears to be.. She lamented that no matter how she baths herself, she often stink because of the injuries sustained during the ungodly act..
Mmayen has been introduced to all forms of sex ranging from Oral sex, anal sex, fondling of body parts with objects and the likes..she laments that she is forced to watch sexual movies and act accordingly....What a world!
Mmayen never disclosed this because no one cared to ask questions or get friendly with her..Even her teachers never bothered finding out but instead they gossiped and regarded her as a nuisance but she was grateful that she finally opened up to someone...

To my fellow teacher's, Every child you come in contact with is your child so please treat them the way you'll want others to treat your biological children..
Report any case of Rape to the nearest police station and hand such child over for medical attention...!
