Traveling the World #185 - Kawagoe Kumano Shrine @ Saitama, Japan
Hi Everyone,
Kawagoe Kumano Shrine is a popular stop for those exploring Kawagoe 90 minutes from Tokyo. On a nice sunny day, you will many locals and those visiting for one day will stop there. You will see two rocky paths on both sides so visitors can walk in or out without shoes. They are awfully painful as you can see from my video here. It is meant to help stimulate the feet so it can improve your blood circulation.
It has been said that there are a few gods at this shrine which include wealth, luck with business and love. What I like about this shrine is they have clear instructions on how to make your prayers. Even local people will read clearly for those instructions to make sure they are doing the right thing to ensure the gods can hear their wishes.
Due to the popularity of the shrine, there is normally a line at each offering station so be sure to follow the line and instructions. It is free entry and you are free to donate any amount to the shrine for maintaining the buildings and gardens. Just note that the shrine is full of cobblestones so no use pushing a stroller or trolley here. Prepare to get some dust on your shoes but I can be sure you will enjoy this nice stop at Kawagoe Kumano Shrine.
