FREEDOM - LIBERTA'

Hi everyone, my dear friends!!!
Today I present you this work where I tried to ex press the concept of freedom. It is a pannel of canvas of linen of cm 100x180. The linen is a textile fiber that it was once woven by women to make brides’ bed linen.
This belonged to my mother and was woven for her by her grandmother for her wedding. Used and now deteriorated of time was ready for to be thrown away, i recovered it and I realized this work.
I can’t thrown away objects that belonged to sameone dear to me, always I think of turning them into anything helse. I took it, painted with colors for the fabrics, with warm and delicate skin-colored hues as if it were an epidermis on which grey lines are imprinted, curvilinear trajectories left by the flight of dragonflies. I realized the dragonflies with weaving metal wires,skin wire,tulle and gauze and I hung them on the panel.

Oggi vi propongo questo lavoro dove ho cercato di esprimere il concetto di libertà. E’ un pannello di tela di lino di cm 100x180. Il lino è una fibra tessile che una volta veniva tessuta dalle donne per fare la biancheria delle spose. Questa apparteneva a mia madre ed era stata tessuta per lei da sua nonna per il suo matrimonio. Usata e ormai deteriorata dal tempo era pronta ad essere gettata, l’ho recuperata e ho realizzato questo lavoro. Non riesco a gettare oggetti appartenuti a qualcuno a me caro, penso sempre come trasformarlo in qualcos’altro. L’ho presa, dipinta con colori per le stoffe, con tinte delicate e calde color pelle, come fosse un’epidermide su cui sono impresse delle linee grige, delle traiettorie curvilinee lasciate dal volo delle libellule. Le libellule le ho realizzate intrecciando fili metallici,fili di pelle,tulle e garza e le ho appese al pannello.

The dragonfly from Latin “libellum” diminutive of “liber” it means libero. Wonderful and elegant insect, it is par excellence symbol of freedom. In the popolar traditions and in the legend is considered a magical being for its appearence, for its sparkling colors which are accentuated with sunrays, and its slim boby, recalls the little spirits of nature.

La libellula dal latino “libellum” diminutivo di “liber” significa libero. Bellissimo ed elegante insetto, è per antonomasia simbolo di libertà. Nelle tradizioni popolari e nelle leggende è considerato un essere magico per il suo aspetto, per i suoi colori sfavillanti che si accentuano con i raggi solari, e il suo corpicino esile richiama i piccoli spiriti della natura.

This flight of dragonflies, imprinted on the linen want to express the concept of freedom, in this case referred to the woman who for centuries has been forced to suffer injustices by a patriarchal society, giving up your dreams.
The dragonflies try to escape, free themselves, from someone or something that tries to keep them, of catching them, to do them brainwash …….but at the entd they find the right way to free themselves and overcome with great tenacity all obstacles in life.
In March there are a lot events about female issues, I made this istallation for to take part of a exhibition in my town called “Female Essences” with three other female artists, in a multimedia space, a Church-Museum for all month of March. Unfortunately due worlwide emergency of Corona-Virus all cultural events have been postponed.
That’s a shame!!! We hope that this problem will be risolved worldwide soon. I hope you like this work. Bye, see you soon!!!

Questo volo di libellule, impresso sul lino vuole esprimere il concetto di libertà, in questo caso riferito alla donna che per secoli è stata costretta a subire ingiustizie da parte di una società patriarcale, rinunciando ai propri sogni. Le libellule cercano di fuggire, di liberarsi, da qualcuno o qualcosa che cerca di trattenerle, di catturarle, di modificare le loro volontà…….ma alla fine trovano la strada giusta per liberarsi e superare con molta tenacia tutti gli ostacoli della vita.
In questo mese ci sono molti eventi riguardo le problematiche femminili, ho preparato questa istallazione per partecipare ad una mostra nella mia città dal nome “Essenze Femminili” insieme ad altre tre artiste donne, in uno spazio multimediale, una chiesa-museo per tutto il mese di marzo. Purtroppo causa emergenza mondiale del Corona-Virus tutte le manifestazioni culturali sono state posticipate.
E’ un peccato!!! Speriamo che questo problema si risolva al più presto in tutto il mondo. Spero che questo lavoro vi piaccia. Ciao a presto!!!
