Camping by the Murray River up near Renmark in South Australia

You won't see me camping often

Normally I am not a fan of camping but do like to get outdoors once in a while if I feel like being out in the sun. But my partner's parents were out camping and then we went, as did most of her direct family and it was natural for me to get some shots while I was camping so I could share it with you all and some of the things that helped with enjoying it.

So the campgrounds is called Crooked Straight and it right next to the Murray River, not too far out from Renmark and Paringa in South Australia. The biggest part is the total of roughly 3 hours driving to get there, which is mostly enjoyable to look around and get excited as I always love heading up Renmark way.

You are greeted by some great views of the Murray River which you can swim in, jetski on, take out a boat and all sorts of water activities, just be sure to wear a life jacket as it is better to be safe! I was not wanting to go into the water or do anything, so I sat around chatting and enjoying the relaxing time out and away from technology and everything else for a change, considering I am always on the computer.

As you can see there are also houseboats that cruise along the river, some tow boats like this one was doing. Thinking I have only been on a houseboat when I was a kid and we lived up in Renmark, not 100% sure but I would think at least once I have.

You will have to watch out for dragons though! Vicious bastards they are!!! No, just kidding. But there are Goanna's around 1.5 metres long which are pretty awesome to see while there. This was the baby about a little over 1 metre long but the mother was nearby in another tree which was at least 1.5 metres long. I only managed to get the shots because I was turned to see it crossing a part of where you drive along, so I got up and checked it out and when it saw me (it was about 10 metres in front of me) it bolted to the tree and started climbing.

My favourite view was at night time when the moon was out and I was sitting there, enjoying the view of the river and the moon shining. It makes me want to get back to using the telescope and seeing what I can see and if I can find the stars myself. This was really peaceful and one of my favourite parts of this camping trip and you can see why.

Those kayaks belong to others known to my partner's family and the speedboat as well. Good for anyone who enjoys going along the river for a paddle or take it to a spot to sit in and fish, not my sort of thing though.

The speed boat was used to tow a biscuit (inflatable thing you hold onto and taken all around on the water, slow or fast) plus other things to do with water fun that the kids loved so they weren't just swimming for the trip.

You won't see me camping often because I am not the biggest fan of the outdoors or the camping lifestyle. Luckily my partner's parents had a campervan with a bed on both sides that pulls out, so we could sleep inside, though they aren't made for tall people as I could not lay stretched out haha! This should hopefully be the only time for a while now and then the next time, I will be able to enjoy it still since it won't be done often and that is how I like it.
