Let's get dirty! Let's play Jogolens!

Jogolens or Jolens is a marble game that we used to play when we were kids. It is a outdoor traditional game here in the Philippines. But now only few children play this game because most children now prefer spending their time on gadgets rather than playing outside. This game is still played in the rural areas like here in our province where traditional and indigenous games still exist.
In these photos you will see my nephews playing this marble game. It's what they do every afternoon.

Jogolens can be played in many numbers.

This game is composed of five holes on the ground.

Where you have to shoot your marble in order to win. But you must shoot the marble continously from the first to fifth hole and then back to the first. So you must be accurate in shooting the marble from one hole to another.

You also need to be careful from your opponents because if they hit your marble with theirs, you will go back from the start.

This game is also challenging because you have to finish first and if you're gonna be the last, you will suffer a punishment.

But it's the challenge you must take if you want to play this game. Even the youngest kids on the group is up for it because they know in themselves that they can compete with their older brothers.

Seeing them play the game that we used to play back in the days makes me remember all the good times we had during our childhood days. Just as the saying goes "Old but gold". I hope that these kind of traditional game will still be played by the next generation of children because nothing can beat the fun and experience while playing this. These also helps in improving the social aspect of yourself and also the sportsmanship value on another.
