Flowers and Picnic
Three posts in a week! I’m on a roll.
We had a break in the weather today. The weekend was fantastic but it looks like more rain in the forecast. Although with some health issues lately, my allergies have come back with a strength I haven’t felt in years. The gut is a sensitive organ! It was hard not to take an hour and go outside with the little one while @cmplxty was working. There was lots of good reason besides just the sun being out.
There’s been lots of really nice looking flowers sprouting up all around besides the ones we planted over the weekend. With the sprouting flowers, there’s lots of bees and bugs out and about taking in the harvest. It was nice explaining the bumble bees to him, showing the pollen on its legs and what the bees do for us and the food supply.
Was trying to take a picture of the water collecting in the flower cups. It’s rained a lot here lately so the flowers have had ample hydration. April showers bring May flowers as they say here in the States, or at least here in New England. Really liked these purple flowers, nice and big!
The little one is getting a lot better at his colors. He yelled with a lot of excitement when he spotted these yellow flowers. It’s a special time, with him enjoying so many of the things we don’t really take a second glance at as an adult.
He was ecstatic that we saw lots of bunnies. These things are flourishing by far here, there’s about 30 we’ve seen hopping around. His vision is a hell of a lot better than mine is, lol. He saw the second one far before I saw it, I thought he was making it up. Certainly not!
This was cool. I guess as an adult, I’ve never really taken a look at this but I had no idea these pine cones had a phase where they turned red! I was confused but I found a few examples of it starting out green then more where they were transitioning to red. The things you learn when you’ve got lots of time at home, and have a toddler who asks you every 30 seconds ‘what’s that?’
When @cmplxty was done with work, the munchkin told him that he wanted to have a picnic. We thought it was going to involve blankets, grass and the river. Not on his mind! Just the snacks, some chalk and the pavement in front of our car lol. It was cute to watch but damn did he eat more in the damn picnic than he does when he’s in the house! Little stink. Maybe that means we will just have to do more picnics then!
Take care and stay positive!

I've heard New England is a really picturesque part of the country, green and leafy? Well, at least that is what I recall hearing.
I always had thoughts of living in America someday, Montana or somewhere outdoorsy and less populated. I guess it won't happen considering my advanced age but I still think about it.
You're on a roll! 3 in a week keep it up! 😊
Thank you! It feels good to do some adult engagement lol
New England is definitely beautiful, we really enjoy living here for all of the beautiful scenery and things to do. It is getting very expensive though so it's not our forever spot. We have been a very independent couple, lots of our friends and family barely move to the next town. We plan to move a hell of a lot further than that lol.
It's never too late to relocate! It's not for everyone that's for sure but there's always the possibility. Interesting enough there’s lots of places even here in New England that are sparsely populated. New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine have massive amounts of wilderness to them.
I love being called and adult...I act like a child mostly. (Not really.) (Yes really). (Only sometimes). (A lot).
ANYway...Yep, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine...I've heard of them all and have heard they are very beautiful. I saw a show once about a couple seeking a property in Maine...It looked so nice.
I want to move somewhere smaller than a city, a small town an hour away from a city would suit me fine I think, provided the services and amenities I needed were there. At this stage of life (50) I don't think it's too late to make a change and we talk about it a lot. At this stage I have my dad in a nursing home with dementia and while he often doesn't know who I am I'll not leave him. So, for the moment it's here, but in the future...Who knows.
There's a place here called Glen Innes https://gleninneshighlands.com/ which I like a lot...It's a long way from where I live, over 1700km (over 1000 miles) away in New South Wales, a region called New England as it turns out...I love it...It's the sort of place I could move to I think. The link will show you around it a little.
There's other places of course. So many options here, but an adventure overseas sounds like a good idea. Somewhere peaceful, community oriented and outdoorsy...Perfecto.
Who knows moving forward...It's all possible I guess.
Thanks for responding.
