Red Wild Buffalo Berries Everywhere || Ukraine through my eyes...

avatar

Hello everyone, Hope you are having a good day...

Hanging from the tree
Red berries of winter call,
Suspended from decay
Frozen in life by the cold,
Substance hard to find
Foraging for scraps
Nuts,
Berries,
Leaves...

Well, these are not juicy, tasty appealing looking berries, these are wild berries. It took me some time to figure that out because when I first saw it I thought these berries can be eaten.

Silly me...

And obviously I tried them and they taste like poison, bitter and too much sour...

Let me tell you the entire funny story...

When I first came here, it was the end of spring and mostly summertime. So, that time trees were full of apples and berries with green fresh leaves. The first thing that caught my eyes were these berries, trees were the backyard of my university Hostel.

So, on the second day, I pick up some of these red berries and tasted them. And guess what I couldn't consume one berry because it was so sour and bitter taste. Then further I came to know they are wild berries and we shouldn't pick up and taste berries like that. It can be dangerous for our health...

Poor me...LOL...

These berries are known as Buffalo Berries, available everywhere in Kharkiv. You can't eat these berries like blueberries or strawberries but it has some contribution to the natural medicine sector.
Canada buffaloberry can be eaten but not this one. So, better to avoid this berry because both of them look so similar and hard to define.

Sometimes they look like berry vines and they are beautiful to look at. I have already told my story about how I introduced myself to this berry. Basically, I saw this berry whole year, no idea when they grow but at the end of fall they basically die.

I wish I had DSLR or Microlenses to capture these berries perfectly. I will try to capture different pictures of these berries but can't promise because this quarantine life won't let me do that.

But of course, I will try to write more interesting things about Ukraine. I know this berry is available in many countries because this is not a native berry of Ukraine.

Till then stay blessed everyone...

Buffalo Berries:)))
