The endangered Cape frogs!

Hey! I can see myself in the bubbles on the frog!

** Today I bring you the story of the danger that faces the amphibians across the world. Their enemy? Mankind of course!**

Imagine no life in the rivers, no fish, frogs, birds and just non drinkable polluted water flowing by.
A recent study is warning about this and I sincerely hope that this simple post of mine will raise some awareness about the bleak future that faces all life in our rivers!

183.JPG

Timing in photography is essential and I had to wait for the bubbles in the river to show that only his head was sticking out of the water.

152.JPG

That bubble ring gave me the idea to wait until a bubble appeared on top of the frog!

169.JPG

Bang! I got a bubble on him after half hour wait lol.
I had time because the wife was in the shopping center 🤣

"Amphibians, the oldest group of land vertebrates, are regarded as the most threatened across the globe. From Brazil's tropical rain forests, to Canada's temperate boreal forests, from fresh streams in the Alps to Australia's temporary ponds, most populations are declining. Contributing factors include habitat destruction, invasive species, disease spread and rapid climate change. Most are human induced".

225.JPG

"South Africa's Cape region, comprising both succulent semi-desert and fynbos vegetation, has a unique amphibian fauna that has been recognised globally. It consists of more than 50 species of frogs, 37 of which are endemic (they occur nowhere else in the world). Cape frogs are important because of their global uniqueness.
But their future may be under threat, and the climate of the future looks to be changing faster than the steady climate they evolved into in the past"

So, what can you and I do about this?
We can raise awareness about the essentiality to stop our pollution of the waters and also advocate respect for our wetlands across the world.
Joining a conservation group can also be a good start, or alternatively give them some support.

And That's All Friends!

Something here below to think about!

I have shown a similar frog in one of my posts a while ago. I don't remember it's name, but it was about the same nice little froggie 😃 Mine was more orange with the same stripes on the feet though and maybe it was just on holidays from South Africa 😁

It was orange because of the African sun that tanned it Hannes,
Did your frog also have water bubbles on it?

Even frogs are richer than us, as that frog has two holiday homes, one here and another in Austria lol.
Not fair methinks.

Cheers and thank you for the visit and for the tokens and for the tip.

Good morning Zac,

I have found mine and I think I can see bubbles too 😊

The Common Frog (Rana temporaria) is also known as the European Common Frog and this is a female 😉

Or maybe the color change is because this water is very cold deep in the woods 😊 and I wonder how she travelled from South Africa to this Austrian forest ;)

Good evening Hannes,

That is one very good looking lady frog and I think that I might have also seen some bubbles.
I think that one is a genuine Austrian frog as we have none of that color here.
Our frogs know that bright colors are no good in the African sun, so they prefer to go around in greyish suits!

Cheers and thanks!

Good evening Zac,

I can't remember what this frog is named, but I think it's some kind of a common frog that lives in Europe, so you are quite right 😉

Hi Hannes,

Well when you said deep in the forest, I knew that it was European, as most of the forests here has been decimated, to make way for "progress".

At least your frogs are still safe lol.

Cheers and thanks!

Hm, I have already made a reply to this comment 🤔

Deep in the forest means deep for the frog, but only about 15 minutes hiking and climbing for me 😁

I think people care more for the frogs than for the people.

Well I would not know if you replied or not hm?

15 minutes is deep for the frog because he is minute in size lol.

In our country everything is on the danger list including frogs and people lol.

Cheers and thanks!

My reply was stored and didn't show up the next time 🤔

People are definitely not endangered here 🙂

It seems that replies have a new mind of their own lately my friend.
I was answering someone and the whole comment plus my reply disappeared.

Lucky guy and wish that I could say the same!

Cheers and thanks!

Sooner or later it will get sorted Hannes!
Great thing now is that I can do my replies here in Ecency!
Tried yesterday and the replies didn't open lol.

Cheers and thanks!

Ecency.com works for me, but not always. So I always hope that my replies are saved on the blockchain.

Well, I can now get back into ecency and will soon do all of my replies in there.
I tried to post in there, but it won't accept my post tags. Instead it works on automated tags I think.
So I posted on PeakD in the #featheredfriends community.

Cheers and thanks!

Ecency suggests tags when I begin to type, but I haven't tried to add own tags though. I'll wait a bit longer and then get back to Ecency.

Frogs are first indicator of healthy water, yes our rivers and ponds are progressively being abused by humans.

Good timing with bubbles and frog, excellent message always Stephen, back home after a wonderful week away and still finding my feet once more.

Glad that you enjoyed your time away Lady Joan. Nothing like the "Berg" to ease life's stresses.

Those bubbles can drive one crazy, as many small ones came floating near the frog, but the bigger ones obviously had more air and they chose different routes to sail by.
But yeah, a bit of a wait and voila!

Now it's back to the real world for you with a 110 things to do, but such is life and you will soon get back into the swing of things.

Blessings and thank you for the gifts!

Small reptiles are not seen as often as we once did, sitting waiting for the right moment can be fun when you are waiting and have time on your hands... another way of getting away from everything around you.

Ah! Yes, you know one of my secrets Lady Joan, as I love the waiting periods.
A time to dream in a perfect life filled with love and care.
Even the small things are hiding away from mankind lol.

Oh yes, but then again nothing is good for some Lady Joan.
Looking forward to what you will show!

Mankind can really crush the bubble of so many species. I liked your reflection in the bubble, nice pictures! We should indeed appreciate all animals, they have an important role in nature's equilibrium

Funny that you should mention that word "equilibrium" as that is the word that I was looking for when I discussed the issue with a friend here. Best that the dumb clerk that handles the files in my brain could come up with was "balance"

Your wordplay on mankind crushing the bubble is excellent, as there is no better way to describe the destruction. Frogs are nature's way of indicating fresh and drinkable water to us and I am afraid that they are on their last legs.

Mankind's "progress" is a killer in disguise, as there should be strict laws that ban developments in wetlands!

It is unfortunate. Hopefully the legislation will improve and offer protection to the endangered species

No problem JJ, as we are in the same boat.
I just replied to a comment and the whole thing disappeared. The comment and my reply lol.
But yeah, thankfully we are used to glitches after a HF.

Blessings!
