His last Sunset!
Both sea and land sunsets here in our tribute to a legend!
The news this morning stated that the winds in Cape Town, South Africa, have been at storm strength over the last few days, reaching speeds of 100 kmp (Kilometers per hour). One headline on my PC news states that "Capetonians are defying gravity", as people cling to each other walking in the streets. Motorcycles blown over and trees uprooted.
But this post today is about another matter which I will tell you about at the end of the post.
Come and enjoy the sunsets show!
Sunlight playing on the windows of the beachfront skyscrapers!
Another look at the sea sunset that leaves one with a great sense of peace!
This seagull couple decided to have a sunset dinner at a beach rock restaurant.
And here now we go inland to the hills below the mountains!
A closer look a bit later at the tree on the skyline!
Here we have a different tree on another occasion with the sun behind a strip of cloud!
Finally all of the above is a tribute to a very accomplished artist who's music I love!
Let me explain.
@jaynie of #powerhousecreatives is running a music "Track of the day" contest and I entered a track by Mr. Steve Fataar of a South African band called "The Flames".
Well to my surprise in the news this morning I saw that Steve Fataar died yesterday (Saturday) morning. I have always loved their rock music. Amazing co-incidences here as Steve and I share a name and on Friday night before his death he played a gig at a place called "Zack's" in Durban, KZN. That's two names shared!
Here's some more information about Steve Fataar and The Flames!
"Biography"
"The band was originally formed in 1963 by guitarist Steve Fataar, bassist Brother Fataar (real name Edries Fataar), drummer George Faber and guitarist Eugene Champion. However, this line-up would only be together to record a couple of songs. Ricky Fataar replaced George Faber as the band's drummer around 1964 and Edries Fredericks replaced Eugene Champion as the guitarist. Baby Duval briefly replaced Edries Fredericks in 1967, although it is unclear whether he was involved in any of the recordings that were released. Blondie Chaplin then replaced Baby Duval in 1967. This was to be the line-up from 1967 until their demise as a group in 1970.
Steve Fataar has confirmed that Baby Duval is featured as a performer on the Flames second album That's Enough, which was released in early 1967.
In 1970, they recorded the only non-Beach Boys album on the Brother records label, produced by Carl Wilson under the name "The Flame" (to avoid confusion with James Brown's The Famous Flames)"
"In 1972 Ricky Fataar and Blondie Chaplin joined The Beach Boys".
Listen to this lovely rock song!
And here's the news about Steve Fataar's death yesterday!

Durban - Tributes have been pouring in on social media following the passing of legendary South African musician, Steve Fataar.
The 76-year-old is believed to have died in his sleep in the early hours of Saturday morning. He had just played a gig at popular Durban venue, Zacks, just hours before his death.
Note: If you want to listen to some great music, Google, "The Flames", South Africa!
This is a great loss to the music industry and our prayers and condolences are with the family and friends. A legend has fallen and a sad day indeed. May he rest in peace!

Such sad news, saw it in the Sunday paper today, he was a legend indeed!
Wow that's some winds you had there but amazing photography!
Ah yes my dear friend. And so we will all come to an end some day.
It is a sad thing as one gets older and you see most of your friends passing away around you.
Reminds me so much about childhood friends that disappear into their own lives as we grow up.
Life is short and we have to make the best of it.
To love all, even if they hurt you is the answer.
Regarding the winds, last night and today the winds clocked over 100 kmh and caused much damage in the Cape Town area.
First time for us to feel the real force of the winds, as where we come from up north they rarely reach these speeds.
Now I can understand why shippers are scared of the Cape.
Blessings!

Amazing photography after the wind attack, high rise buildings right up onto the beach front, not the way I remember the area.
Our generation of musicians are slowly going one by one, yes another great musician who made South Africa proud.
Wind attack still going Lady Joan and thews reckons until Thursday. I was here on a business visit in the 80s and the entire town has changed with new surrounding developments.
The Flames have certainly made a name for themselves.
Blessings!
Like all our cities, growth has happened too quickly and not always pleasing to the eye, no more open space.
South Africa had some excellent musicians, many went overseas to make a living in the late 70's early 80's.
Concerning how the settlements are jumping up overnight normally close to rivers.
Ricky and his cousin went an joined the Beach Boys overseas.
Remember Manfred Mann? Also overseas.
Blessings!
Love the photos. Sorry about the passing of Steve Fataar. May he R.I. P.
Blessings my friend!
Thank you Lady Jo, the man certainly had a great voice and made even his guitar cry.
Glad that you liked the photos my dear friend!
Blessings!
That's some great music. And of course fabulous photos, as always.

Thank you my friend.

Hey even here in Garden ROute 600 km away down coast from you the gale force wind has been hectic. Day 3 of total mist cover and rain, a blessing and apparently how it used to be here decades ago, with loads more rain. Still feels odd to be cooped up indoors in mid summer while it rains and is totally grey.
Love the photos, are those skyscrapers in Strand?
We have family, at least my wife has in Oudtshoorn my friend and apparently it's very dry and hot there. I was also in the army there in the 70s and know your area fairly well. Of course rain is always a blessing, but sadly the winds over 100kmh created much damage over here.
Yes those skyscrapers are in the Strand.
Blessings and thank you!
What a lovely tribute to a wonderful musician!
That is an absolutely stunning sunset! You caught some fabulous photos there! It must have been something to be standing watching it in it's totality!
Thanks for sharing!
It was indeed a most beautiful sunset and wonderful how it stays in one's minds eye whenever mentioned.
Steve was indeed a great guy.
Blessings!
Howdy sir papilloncharity! Gorgeous photos again and very sad to hear about Mr. Fataar. That's a beautiful song though.
Thank you my friend and The Flames certainly made some great music.
