A place of freedom!

A pair of "Swiss Shepherds" right here in the Western Cape Province of South Africa!

The one at the back is a male. His owners decided to breed them and they bought the young female import at the front in the picture.
A first for me to see them.

Where to escape to after all of the lockdowns trapped people in their homes?
Nature of course and we have plenty of it over here.
Come and have a look at a popular public park near the mountains that we visited today.

069.JPG

This guy really loves the river and he was in like a flash!

064.JPG

Old gigantic oak trees live in this park and look at the size of their Winter leaves that Marian is holding here!

078.JPG

Now to get a good shot of the river I had to crawl through underneath this tree.
Look at the size of those thorns, not very friendly at all!

089_LI.jpg

The yellow cross at the water side of the thorn tree was where I stood to get the next picture!

084.JPG

Worth challenging the thorns to get a picture like this methinks.
Look how the tree at the right drinks water from the river!

119.JPG

Look what stood peeping at me a while later!

123.JPG

Now who would not love to spend time here?

A huge open park where everyone can come and go as they please.
At the other side of the park is tennis and basketball courts, 2 cricket pitches all in a great condition and there are even two club houses.
The left hand side of the park borders on a town suburb and the rest of the park is surrounded by farms. Of course closer to the mountain (where we love to go), everything is wild.

Here's a surprise that I got today!

101.JPG

Any ideas what this is? Mint like leaves, but look at how beautiful this delicate flower is! pink, orange, yellow and with a red center?
It grows next to the river on the opposite (farm) side!

And That's All Folks!

I really wish the powers that be would open up parks and beaches again, getting into the fresh air, what is not healthier?

Given up on ranting about it, just sitting around waiting is frustrating enough, those dogs are gorgeous, a breed I have never seen before either.

Been to the beach today my friend.
Just for a short while, as the wind was not very friendly.
The surfers and the kite surfers were out in force.

Also my first time to see the dogs and they were very friendly. One even came and licked me lol.

Still nowhere to go with Woody, wish I had trained him from young. Also think he will be captain collapse along with me after our first walk out it has been such a long time!

Glad you are able to get down to the beachfront we are able to go to promenade, as mentioned it is "doggy manners" that comes in the way of restricted area like that...

So sad for Woody Lady Joan.
That first walk is certainly testing and my legs gave me much trouble because of my back. Decided to speak to the specialist again this coming week.
He gave me two options, a yearly chondroid gel injection into my spine.
The other option is for them to "fuse" the spine,
So I think we will go for the injection first.

In Woody's case you are just going to wait my friend!

Injection may help for a couple of months, not quite a year. My son took the injection to ease pain a couple of years ago, now is learning to live with it along with exercises given.

Hope it helps, each person reacts differently, going under scalpel not always the best option, again it works miracles for some.

For some reason I am one of those difficult ones Lady Joan.
Had a severe problem from a simple cataract op.
Yet, when they took my gall bladder out, I was at work the next day, as Papillon had a board meeting.
So with me it is the luck of the draw.
Hope that you guys will have a good week, even under the circumstances.

It does look very idyllic, almost like in a fairy land. Those dogs look so amazing, I think they could camouflage perfectly in snow hihi

Thank you and we love it here my friend.
I presume that I may call you a friend?

They are amazingly friendly dogs and have a very good reputation.
I could get a pup once the owner starts to breed, but our place is too small for a dog like that. They need space to run.
You are right about the snow, as they would be a perfect fit!

Honoured to be called friend😊 I think that is almost necessary to deconnect and enjoy nature.

Those dogs will look adorable in the winter snow. If there is little space, a smaller dog would be better. The kind of dogs which fit in a mug lol

My pleasure to gain another friend.
We have a little guy that fitted into a mug when he was pup.
His favorite place to sleep at night was inside my shoe.
"Troy" is now 15 years old and a little old man that sleeps here at my feet as I type this now. My wife calls him my shadow:)

Awwww that is so sweeet. Sleeping in the shoe hihi. After so many years of course that he is your shadow. So cute to have a companion for so long. A reliable member of the family.😍

Thank you Lady Mary, but he is getting old now and like me, he is starting to develop some health problems.
But as long as we have him, he will be appreciated and cherished!
Hope that you have a goog day/night? 🙂

Oh I am sure that you take the greatest care when it comes to him. He must be spoiled, I would spoil him if he would have slept in my shoes😂😂 I am having a great day, I send you the same wishes. 🌈
