A day of the planets!

As the moon goes down, just so the sun comes up!
I am sure that no one can be absolutely sure how long this planet ritual has continued!

We know that the moon is supposed to signify the night and the sun the day, but here's the catch. What if both are up at the same time in the day? Now if these planets had any human characteristics, the one would fight with the other to protect their territory.
Not so, as they complement each other and have always worked together.
A lesson for us?

IMG_8376.JPG

Mother moon sinking slowly and majestically below the tree line on its way to light up the night in other countries!

**In the meantime let's go and see how Mister Sun is doing! **

IMG_8362.JPG

This is the only bit of warm color that we saw today as the sun emerged covered by clouds behind the mountains!

IMG_8380.JPG

Yep! It was going to be a cold day as the cloud was determined to keep the sun covered!

IMG_8381.JPG

But the sun doesn't like to be covered and he kept on fighting with the clouds!

IMG_8382.JPG

Here the sun almost made an escape, but only for a few minutes as he stayed covered for most of the day and only shone a bit now in the late afternoon.

What about the snow?

IMG_8496.JPG

We are expecting the first serious snow fall tomorrow night and for the first time I could get the advancing clouds of a snow storm.

Exciting times for us as we come from the Highveld, where I have only seen snow about 3 times in my long life. Now we live down south where snow is a regular occurrence on the high mountain peaks.
Our first experience at this side of the mountains, as before we lived in the apple valley on the other side of the mountains.

The clouds today are so dramatic in the swirling winds that run ahead of a solid mass of cloud. I took about 50 shots of different swirling formations driven by the high winds. A bit of bad news is that those same winds will become angry and they will drop down tomorrow to ground level.
But I am ready for them, as I have one of those Russian fur hats and we are going to have some fun.
So! I am sure to share some great photos with all of you!

And That's All Folks!

Note: All photos are my own, unedited and cropped for uploading.
Camera used: Canon SX60HS

We hope that you have enjoyed the pictures.

Beauty of the sun or moon dancing above is always good reason to contemplate life, living everything on the move.

Snow means cold weather on the coast, you may to have do some travel to see it, or do the mountains that far down get a little. Hex River Valley I know definitely gets snow having seen it many years ago.

Have fun no matter the weather Stephen.

Oh yeah, they teach me many things Lady Joan.

We do get snow here on the Hottentots-Holland mountains. I took a couple a shots of the snow when we arrived here last year mid-winter, but then we were on the other side of the mountains in the apple valley.
This year we are very much closer and all of my camera's batteries are charged lol.

A difference is that this year we are more exposed to the gale force winds as there is no mountain to hide behind hahaha.
At 120ks an hour I will have to watch that the wind doesn't blow me back over the mountain hahaha.

But, fun I will surely have!

Those Cape winds are wicked most definitely could take you for a joy ride. Look forward to seeing snow from the new angle you have now.

Been out today at the mountain to get some crazy shots of the clouds Lady Joan. Driven like jet streams over the mountain tops.
Going to enjoy this storm with the camera.

Hopefully we get some rain from this cold pressure system coming through, been warm up here. After garden service arrived to give the lawn a haircut it went from green to brown... Perhaps good reason to allow the weed to flourish!

Oh well if the "weed" flourishes, at least you have some income opportunities from the cannabis clients my friend hahaha.
I know it's not that kind of weed lol.
In case anyone reads this and think they can score Lol.

We are totally awash here in the water.
I could only get out for about 15 minutes today in a slight drizzle to take some beautiful sunset clouds, but of course it is freezing outside.
Hope that the water will carry op on the east coast!
Looks like it as these cumulus clouds are tanks full of water.
Take care my dear friend!

Oh yeah, it's salient slide through the sky has elicited many songs and poems.
I think that most of us has a little mystery section in our nuts that gets activated whenever we stare at the moon.
That once upon a time....thing!

I love the moon, especially when I can view it during the day like this. It gives you such a good view as opposed to when the orb is all lit up.

That second shot is my favorite. The bird in silhouette against the mystery of the moon. Classic.

Snow? Oh, how wonderful! I love the beauty that is leaves behind, even if it is for a short while. I have had snow most of my life and still love the pristine stillness it evokes when Mother Nature dusts the earth.

A lovely post to carry me through my day!

Glad that you like the post Lady Denise and regardless what discoveries they make on the moon, it will always remain my mystery ball.
A planet that is the ruler of the ocean tides.

The second shot was just a lucky shot, as I knew that sooner or later a bird will take off from a branch in that tree.

"Mother nature dusts the earth" such a nice way to describe it and I so hope that we will see it. I have had very little experiences with snow and am so looking forward to it.
We shall see what we will see.

Thank you for the kind visits and the tips.

Take care my friend!

Thank you. We shall wait and see.
I have my Russian fur hat ready and the 3 batteries for the CANON are all charged!
I might need one of those long war shields for the gale force winds though lol.
Stay well dear one!

Beautiful shots! Love the bird and the moon!
That's so funny that you are excited to see snow!
We just got past our last expected frost date so I can start getting my warm weather plants out in the garden and hopefully we won't see any snow until the end of October!
Thanks for sharing!
