My Nation.

I weep for my nation
My tears water the ground
It almost caused a flood
But our lands have gone too dry

I weep for my country
And my tears salt the wounds on my feet
That I got from toiling hard on the land
Where the battle for freedom was once fought

I weep for my land
And my tears mark the stains
Where slaves used to go for sales
And my heart broke and wriggled blood
From the image of the chains
That bonded their hands and their soul
To the foreigner of doom

I weep for the forgotten
The ones who died namelessly
While fighting for freedom of our land
Because the memory of the world is short
And even barely remembers the conquerors

I weep for us the children
of this soil
Who will grow too soon
And witness the growth of the killer seeds
That brings only bitter harvest
Childhood is still a luxury

I weep for my land
Not for pity or for judgement
Neither is it of despair
For this land is full of vast potentials
And people of inextinguishable hope
Who are the architect of their destiny

And our heritage weeps for some too
For we have forgotten her ancient ways
And our ignorance of her culture
For our ears have become deaf
To her moonlight and fireside tales.

Thank you for your time.
