Somewhere in the UK? Some Time Ago...

avatar

Since I haven't gone anywhere

I have been sitting here contemplating what to write about. I've not really been posting at all. To be honest, I don't really have much new to contribute. Since Covid, I've essentially been sitting at home waiting it out...

and waiting... and waiting...

Random undated photo from England #1. No idea.

I have been scouring through old photos trying to find some adventure from the past that I forgot to write about from the before times. So far I have not had much luck.

My father in law is at it again at the allotment

At least Amanda's dad is getting out and getting some exercise finally. He has been in lockdown as well, but finally was able to get vaccinated. Now he's starting up some new veggies in the old allotment.

Random UK photo number 2

Wow... I really traveled around a lot before Covid. I have zero recollection of some of the places that I visited in these photos. My memory is absolutely shot! It seems that we traveled so much, and went to so many places that my brain can no longer keep them in short term memory.

Lovely scene, somewhere in England

I mean, you'd think I'd remember a gorgeous place like that, right? No such luck. It doesn't even ring a bell, or spark the slightest hint of a memory. I suppose it is a good thing that I took photos!

My father-in-law standing in from of some lovely building in UK

Well, there is a clue, I suppose. Wherever we were, my father in law was there with us. Well, that isn't really much of a clue, considering that he went with us on most of our trips around England.

I guess for now I can just dream of getting out there and traveling the world again. I really can't wait, actually. Mostly because my poor little son is 8 months old and has barely seen another person, let alone the big world out there. He must believe that the world consists of mostly our livingroom, and the path we take to go on a walk.

Let's hope this misery ends soon! I hope we've all learned to appreciate our freedoms from this experience.

No wonder I haven't seen your post and I was wondering whether you took a break. Sometimes, it could be tough finding something interesting to write about.
Despite the covid restrictions, you were able to travel to places. That's great. Love those old structures. Good to see your post after a while.

Between Covid and the little baby, it's been extremely difficult to write anything. Little Ricky has me extremely exhausted! He doesn't let me do anything much other than pay attention to him. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but we work from home so it makes it especially hard. But I am looking forward to the future. Let's see how things go!

About not remembering. Maybe not having to do much as asides taking beautiful did not do well in preserving the memory of the place and time. We usually tie memories to strong emotions. Maybe next time you visit you and Amanda should find something memorable to do with your son.

Sorry about not being able to travel. Covid restrictions are not tight here, so we can around easily

Yeah man, I think we are going to have an amazing time once we are able to travel again. The little one is going to be so amazed at everything! I can tell you one thing is for sure, I will definitely appreciate things more than I did before all of this craziness. You really can take life for granted when you have freedom of movement.

Wow, that does look like a pretty awesome place to visit. I am with you though. Not so much about the forgetting, but the whole not having much to write about because you aren't getting out much. Especially this time of year in Michigan It is better to just stay bundled up inside where it is warm!

Yeah, @bozz it has been sooo boring. On the upside, it stays relatively warm here. I guess that makes it worse though, because you look outside and it looks so nice but you don't want to deal with the hassle of going out. It is such a rigmarole dodging people all day and the damn masks. I just want to get the vaccine and be done with it. Well, it won't be so much done, but at least I'll feel more comfortable seeing friends and family.

Actually, to be honest Rick I don't recognise any of these places either! A bit embarrassing really as I'm English myself 🤣 One thing I will say is: I have never seen a green coloured Telephone Box (always red).

I think you were teleported somewhere weird, like in Doctor Who 😎

Anyway, glad you are Okay and little Ricky doing well ~ Time flies! Right :)

One thing that always stuns me about England is how small of a country it is, yet there is so much to see and so much diversity. Especially the accents.. You can go 10 miles and hear a different one!

Yeah, I don't know about the booth. Maybe it was an alternate reality ;p

I think America is exactly the same, if you go from one State to another State. Except obviously on a much larger scale. England is a little more condensed shall we say LOL

Oh this must have been such a difficult time for you! I can't believe he is already 8 months old. Time flew! I send all of my best wishes to you, hopefully you will be able to travel again as you used to before

Yeah, the little one is aging me a decade in a year. haha! I am tired from the time I get up, to the time I go to bed. I am looking forward to a time when he is a bit calmer, and can play well by himself. I basically have to wait until 11pm to get on here and write anything.

I imagine that he is just as bored as we are, stuck in the house. Traveling again will be amazing!

Ahhh your words give me chills, I have no kids yet and gosh it seems so difficult😱😂it looks like a full non stop job. They are cute when they grow a bit and start talking though. I am sure he is bored, I think he will love it outside once everything comes back to normal

Great photos, Rick! I wish I had more voting power - the second last one of the water castle is just stunning!
Glad to help you out here - I did a reverse image search, this is Scotney Castle in Kent - Lamberhurst, Tunbridge Wells TN3 8JN, United Kingdom - Architect: Anthony Salvin
I am so waiting for Corona to go away - there are so many places I like to visit also, and this has whetted my appetite!
The invite still is open, if you ever want to come to Vienna, I will be your guide!

Ahhh! Nice work Otto. Wow, now I remember why we went down there. We were visiting some friends, Jenny and Artie. (Jenny is from Kent).. Actually I think you may know Artie, (Art Michael Venti) who is a fine artist. I noticed you on his facebook friend list, I believe. Small world.

I will certainly look you up if we ever go to Vienna! My wife, the artist would especially love the artsy guide.

(Edited)

Hey Rick, glad I could help - and it is a small world: Art Venti is a Facebook friend on my old profile (I was canned a few times, so now I have 3 profiles). I looked him up and made a friend request from the profile I currently use.
Now that you reminded me, I have to fix his page in the Visionary Art Gallery - so look in a couple of hours and I will have it done. (Update: done now!)

My memory is absolutely shot! It seems that we traveled so much, and went to so many places that my brain can no longer keep them in short term memory.

That is awesome. I mean not the forgetting part, of course, but the adventures/journeys.
Maybe it is a good idea to write a diary about them in addition to the photo collections.

Yeah, that is really one of the main reasons that I originally decided to write about my travels on here. It helps to cement the memories by recalling them.

We've all been tied down due to the restrictions in movement.
If feels great to be able to travel again and see new places
While we wait for restrictions to be lifted, we are reminiscent of old memories
PS.... I'm new on hive and it would mean a lot to meet new people me link up
