Creative renaissance!

Hey, Hive! A few times a month, I do freewrites, just for the fun of it. I used to write these on flights, flying from one city, to the next city, to the next. It’s nice to write one from home for a change. During the quarantine, I’ve shared a lot of my thoughts here. That’s one of the things that I’ve come to appreciate so deeply since the pandemic. Just having Hive to share my thoughts, work through my feelings about the state of the world, state of myself, etc. I know in 20 years, looking back on these journals will be a glimpse in to some of the most eventful years of my life.

It doesn’t happen often, but I have these days where I feel almost everything I touch turns to art of some kind. Believe me, my followers on Instagram think I do that far more than I really do. I have a tremendous output. I’m prolific, not because I wake up every morning feeling that I have to create some ground breaking visual interpretation of the world, but because I’m a freelance artist, and if I don’t put out every damn day, I can’t have a house, a car or a family. I’m not mused day in and day out. I’m just here so often, eventually the muse and I cross paths.

I’ve been investing, and one of my investments came in the mail today. I bought a drone. A DJI Mavic Air 2. Over the last several weeks, I’ve cozied up with @threespeak, as video and VLOGing is something I’m looking at as part of my career transition in the next five years. Going forward, we’ll get much more familiar as the drone is a big part of me being able to go out, record stream of consciousness type VLOG’s […similar to the ones @exyle used to do, which I do miss a lot]. I can talk about blockchain, art, anything.

While @guthrie and I were out this afternoon, we stopped by what I hoped would be a secluded area. Ponds on both sides, which is what I really wanted to test. This thing can track you as you walk, forward, or backward. The test video isn’t really impressive, other than what that little drone is doing on its own! Afterwards, he and I walked around checking things out. I bought a $30 macro lens that snaps on to your iPhone. I shot photos as we went. I never shoot abstract, but this oil puddle was intriguing.

Once we got home, I had another distance/virtual shoot with a pinup model in San Diego. A little more challenging than the last ones. She was in a tattoo shop that was very bright. Prior to our first photos, I had to move my entire set design to the other side of the studio, which took a while and a lot of concentration, but ultimately makes this small space much more manageable now. Good thing, because I have another one tomorrow. When it was all over, I snapped this photo, and I love it.

Writing on the go can be a very fun experience and I agree with being creative everyday and striving to make something. I have found that Hive is a great platform to share/write thoughts

I bought a small drone a while ago and I have been in love with flying ever since. The one I have is too small to take outdoors. I have read really good things about the one you got. We have a couple of phantoms at the school where I work. I have never played with them though.
