Daily Pet Photography: my cats need to be on a diet, แมวต้องโดนลดนํ้าหนัก

This is my entry for #dailypetphotography hosted by @kona. After the lockdown was lifted two weeks ago, I got to travel to the countryside to be united with my orange cats. I was quite excited to see them after almost three months of lockdown. But I was also nervous in case they could not recognise me any more. The moment of truth came after twenty minutes of my tuk-tuk arriving in the driveway making the usual loud noises just like motor bike.

These two cats are loving brother and sister who survived stray dog’s attack as small kittens; I lost two kittens then.

My orange cats are very sensitive to loud noises and would run to hide whenever this tuk-tuk entered the driveway. They sort of equate this sound with something frightening or unpleasant. I told the driver that my cats might not like him very much because he always arrives with loud noise and he took me away to the railway station, making me leaving my cats behind each time I had to travel back to the city. So, it would take my cats almost two hours to feel safe enough to come out of their hiding, long after the tuk-tuk left the house.

But this time, after about twelve weeks absence, I was very surprised to see my cat came to greet me within half an hour of my arrival. The first cat who came to me was the youngest female cat called Kwan. She was complaining like crazy for half an hour making it very difficult for me to get things done. So, I had to give her lots of snack to please her and to compensate her for my long absence. Then, the brother cat came to me quietly; Joan is a very sweet and trusting cat. He would allow me to carry him anywhere. During the weekend, I gave them extra food and snack because I felt very guilty fir neglecting them so long. The result were two very fat cats looking like they needed to go to a gym and be on a diet. They looked so funny with well rounded stomach.

เราพึ่งมีโอกาสกลับไปต่างจังหวัดเพื่อไปเยี่ยมแมวส้มของเรา และ ไปดูแลต้นไม้และสวนทีเขียวขจีหลังฝนตกชุกขึ้น ทำให้เรามีงานต้องทำในสวนมากมาย ตอนแรกเราคิดว่าแมวคงจะกลัวเรา และไม่กล้าเข้าใกล้เรา เราจากไปเกือบสามเดือน เราจึงดีใจมากที่แมวออกมาจากที่ซ่อนเร็วมาก เจ้าขวัญเป็นแมวตัวแรกมี่ออกมาหาเรา มันตรงดิ่งมาหาเราและร้องเรียกกาความสนใจเกือบครึ่งชั่วโมง ทำให้เราทำงานยากมาก เราจึงต้องให้ขนมแมวกินหลายรอบ สักพักแมวตัวพี่เจ้าขวัญก็มาหาเราด้วย เราจึงให้แมวกินขนมอีกหลายรอบ สุดสัปดาห์นั้นเราให้แมวกินอาหารเยอะมากเพราะ ดูมันผอมไปหน่อย อต่พอวันที่สามแมวเราดูกลมและพุงป่องเลย ดูแล้วตลกมาก เราจึงคิดว่าเราต้องลดอาหารแมวแล้ว ถ้าแมวอ้วนเกินไปมันจะไม่แข็งแรง ปีนป่ายลำบากและวิ่งช้าลงด้วย เราคิดว่าเราโชคดีมากที่มีแมวนิสัยดีมาก เป็นแมวที่รักกันและสามัคคีกัน ไม่งอแงและพูดภาษาคนเข้าใจด้วย เราหวังว่าเทวดาจะช่วยดูแลแมวส้มให้เราด้วย

I did ask the Land Spirits for their kind help in looking after my orange cats while I have to be away from the house.
