FRUITS AND VEGGIES MONDAY | Buddha's Claw or Buddha's Hand

I saw this fruit or vegetable last year when I first came to Vietnam. And that was in Hanoi and after that again in a resort in Da Nang.At that moment, I had no idea what it was. In some ways it looked like bananas so I thought it may be the local Vietnamese Bananas since their bananas here are very small; and they usually steam it rather than eat it fresh.

It wasn't until last week that I found out it's actually a fruit and it's called Buddha's Claw or some prefer to call it Buddha's Hand in Chinese (佛手柑), Japanese (仏手柑), Korean (불수감) and Vietnamese (Phật thủ). When it's still raw, it's green in color and when ripe, it turns yellow. In terms of smell, it has a citrus lemon like fragrant but it's actually tasteless. I haven't tried it before but from Mr Google, it's used as a pickle dish or made into a candy.

This is the first and last time I've ever seen this fruit. Till now, I've not come across it yet. Not sure if it's a seasonal fruit but it sure looks creepy 😎

Sometimes, we never know just what we'll find from the local market. Now, here is a mobile vegetable seller on her bicycle. This is very common in Vietnam. It's either on a bicycle, motorbike or some are even on push carts. One thing for sure, all is fresh and affordable. I quite fancy to buy from the vegetable sellers; never know what interesting vegetable I will find 😁

I'll definitely share more in my next post. Hope you enjoy my photo taken from my Huawei

I try whenever I can possible, if making it routine then there won't be any fun in writing.
I think's this is a very Asian fruit though only in Vietnam I see it.

I am familiar with Buddha's hand, but I never tried it or even seen it in reality. But no doubt it is a very strange fruit for sure! So thank you for sharing it with us Dear Ireen 💚🌿💚

My pleasure @lenasveganliving
I asked my fellow colleagues today and they told me that they don't eat this fruit instead use it as a display during prayers. I wonder why when I google it, they serve it as a pickle or made into a candy
